This is an important year for parents, children, and the parish. This preparation program is a special opportunity for you to work with your child one on one getting him/her ready for this next step in initiation into the Church. It is also a good time for you to renew your own faith in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Although it will be a busy time take some time to savor it. Please carefully read and fill out all the registration forms enclosed. The fee is $100 which includes the cost of the two books Reconciliation and Eucharist- a prayer book, a parent guide, group and individual photos and supplies for the workshops. Please return all forms ASAP. Please note the following: The first of the parent meetings occurs on October 8, 2013 at 12:30pm or 7:30pm. Mark your calendars. The agenda for the meeting is as follows: Reflection on the reconciliation and forgiveness Guided tour of the books which will be handed out along with a schedule Please note your requested sacramental dates on the enclosed Checklist. Dates will be assigned in the order in which we receive all of the requirements listed. Space for each date is limited. Once assigned, the date cannot be changed unless there is a serious reason (illness, death in the family, etc.). All parent meetings and children s workshops are mandatory for all parishioners--public and Catholic School parents and children. Please note the dates on the enclosed calendar. The sacramental parent meetings fulfill the two Adult Faith Formation requirements of our Parish Faith Formation Program. Please mark your calendars for these important dates and take them into account when planning vacations and outings. Clean-Up Clean up rooms at the end of the workshop day. (Wipe down tables, sweep floors, etc.) First Reconciliation Services First Reconciliation Service Greet families as they sign in and direct families during the Reconciliation portion of the service. You will do this on a date other than your child s own First Reconciliation Service. FIRST EUCHARIST SACRAMENT Please number, in order of preference, at least three of the following. You will be assigned to at least one event. Workshop Group Guide Chaperone a group of children from activity to activity during the workshop. Session Leader Conduct presentation of lesson materials to children during the workshop. Workshop Assistant Aid with various tasks during the workshop. (This may include checking workbooks, taking attendance, preparing workshop activities, helping children with activities, etc.) Set-Up Prepare materials to be used during the workshop. Meets on a day prior to the workshop. Clean-Up Clean up rooms at the end of the workshop day. (Wipe down tables, sweep floors, etc.) Banner Committee - minimum of 6 volunteers to assist with creating & assembling the banner for each Mass. The First Sacraments Team will contact you with further details. First Eucharist Masses First Eucharist Rehearsals Chaperone children during the rehearsal. This will be on the day of your child s own rehearsal. First Eucharist Masses Assist before and during a First Eucharist Mass. Tasks may include setting up the Church, chaperoning children prior to procession into Church, ushering during the Mass. This will be on a date other than your child s own First Eucharist Mass. Please check this if you will have a visiting Priest, or Deacon attending your child s Mass.
