TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH February 25, 2014 Vol. 48 No.8 INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Honorariums/Memorials 3 Kids Camps 4 Wednesday Menu 5 Senior Adult Events 6 Calendar of Events 7 Discovery Weekend 2013: How you can help! Our prayer is that the church will come along side our student ministry in reaching students for Jesus Christ during Discovery Weekend. We realize the only way we can achieve this goal is to partner with folks like you. Below are a few detailed ways that you or your Sunday School class can help serve. Sponsor a meal/partially sponsor a meal: Cost $300 - $1400 We will serve close to 600 folks during Discovery Weekend. Would you be willing to sponsor all or a part of a meal? Serve a meal: Cost FREE It is vital to the success of our weekend to have adult servers/helpers during each meal. Would you be willing to pass out food during the weekend? Scholarship a student: Cost $85 Our goal with Discovery is to make sure EVERY student can participate regardless of cost. Would you be willing to scholarship a student? Clean up/set up: Cost Free If you have any free time on Friday night or Saturday or Sunday morning, we could use some strong backs to move tables and clean up trash. Would you be willing to give a few hours helping clean up/set up? Thank you! I thank you in advance for your willingness to fulfill the baptismal covenant that so many of you made when these students were babies. The Academy Awards will be held on Sunday evening, March 2. What better way to prepare than to join us for Contact Worship this Sunday morning at 8:45am & 11am as we conclude our series, The REEL Truth: Taking Your Bible to the Movies Please contact David Thompson dthompson@trinitybirmingham.com (or call the church office) for more details on how to get involved to serve during the weekend.

PERSONAL WORD SUNDAY, MARCH 2, 2014 8:45 & 11:00 AM Sanctuary The 8:45 AM worship service is broadcast via 15-minute delay from 9-10 AM Sundays on WAPI-1070 AM. SERMON Rev. Drew Holland MUSIC 8:45 AM Sanctuary Choir Scott Brooks & Anna Underwood 11:00 AM Cross & Flame Youth Choir MINISTER ON CALL Nathan Carden, 863-0765 8:45 & 11:00 AM WESLEY HALL Rev. Nathan Carden FEBRUARY 23 - ATTENDANCE 1383 Total Worship Attendance 915 Traditional 468 Contact 737 Sunday School I believe that it is a basic human need to feel known and loved by others. On March 7-9 our student ministry at Trinity will host over 400 youth who are desperately seeking to feel known and loved by someone. Our mission and prayer during this year s Discovery Weekend is that each and every student and adult that enters our space will experience the feeling of being known and loved by their Creator and by the church that is hosting them. This year our theme is Known: Celebrate Life. Students will examine their uniqueness and why everything about them is matchless and special to God. We will learn about missions and have the opportunity to prepare 20,000 meals for those without food through a ministry called Stop Hunger Now, and finally we will challenge the students to take their uniqueness and find a way to give it back to God. I truly believe that Discovery Weekend is one of the best things we do at Trinity, because it not only reaches our church family, but extends well beyond our church walls. We realize that over half of the students that will participate during Discovery are not Trinity members and is okay. We take serious Jesus final charge to the church in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20), challenging us to reach beyond those closest to us to bring Him glory. So we ask you, as a church family to join us in praying for this Discovery weekend. We invite you to pray specifically that each student will enter with an open heart, that God will speak to each student is a special new way, for energy and strength for our adult leaders and for nice weather! We know that God is going to show up and do some incredible things and we invite you to join us for this amazing journey. If you would like to find more ways to get involved with the weekend we are always looking for food servers, clean up/set up, or even scholarship a student for just $85. For more information on how you can get involved email me dthompson@ trinitybirmingham.com David Thompson information for guests & new members Welcome to Trinity United Methodist Church! Our mission is to Gather people to Christ, Grow people in Christ, Go to serve Christ in the world and Glorify Christ.
