From the Major s Desk My Dear Friends: EVENTIDINGS And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luke 2:8-12 (KJV) What a joy it is for me to bring you Christmas greetings. It s hard to believe Christmas 2017 is upon us. I want you to know that it is a joy to have the privilege of sharing this festive season with our Eventide Family. As the big day draws closer it appears that the signs of Christmas are everywhere, the mall, the television, the radio, office buildings and probably by now, in our homes. Already the spirit of Christmas is in the air. It truly is, just around the corner. Kirk Franklin s song, Jesus Is The Reason is a great Christmas song. We see these words on poster boards, church signs, bill boards, etc. It reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. What can we do this Christmas to include that in our own celebrations? Think about the words Jesus is the reason, For the season; Yes oh yes he is. I don t need material things; all I need is the love you give this holiday, I came to say; That Jesus Is, the Only Way.Gloria! Glo-r-ia He is, He's the reason; One thing you should know Where ever you go He is He's the reason We all have our own traditions in celebrating Christmas. One that most of us have in common is the sharing of gifts. Sometimes it is difficult to know what to give that would be meaningful and useful. The best Christmas gifts come wrapped in people loving and caring for one another. So this is Christmas the love of God, born in Bethlehem s manger Giving Hope Today Christmas 2017. A time when the world desperately needs a reason to be hopeful! May your Christmas be rich in old traditions and sweet with new memories. We look forward to sharing the Christmas festivities with you and your family here at Eventide. Have a very Merry Christmas! This is my prayer. May the love of the Christ Child fill your New Year. It is a busy time for all of us. Many of you will be bringing in gifts for your loved one and we will try to ensure those things that require labelling will be done in a timely manner, so that your loved one can enjoy their gift (s) as soon as possible. As you can imagine there is usually a high volume of items received for labelling on Christmas Day and with that said, items will take time to process and be returned, however, we will accept gifts to be labelled prior to Christmas day, so that labelling can be done previous to the gift giving and items will be ready to wear. Your Help Is Needed... Once again Merry Christmas to You and Yours Regards Doreen Green RN DOC Please help support our local Salvation Army Food & Toy Drive by dropping off a non-perishable item or a new unwrapped toy to our front office.
