E&O P4 RERC 1-01a I am discovering God's precious gift of life and reflect on how this reveals God's love for me. Discuss with your teacher things that are visible, and invisible. Not everything that is created can be seen. In everyday life, we use electricity, and wifi, for example - but we cannot see them. So too, our faith teaches us The Risen Jesus, the Father, and Holy Spirit, for example, with the angels and company of saints, can guide our lives. Though we cannot see her, we can ask Mary, the Mother of God, to pray for us. Pray a Hail Mary. Core learning: I know that God created, loves and keeps everything, both visible and invisible, in being.

E&O P4 RERC 1-01a I am discovering God's precious gift of life and reflect on how this reveals God's love for me. There are many different images of angels in art. Compare some and discuss in pairs. Core learning: I know God creates the earth, sun, moon and stars and the angels, and I can appreciate their beauty and harmony.

E&O P4 RERC 1-01a I am discovering God's precious gift of life and reflect on how this reveals God's love for me. Core learning: I know God creates the earth, sun, moon and stars and the angels, and I can appreciate their beauty and harmony e.g., s the first account of the Creation (Genesis 1: 1-10 & 1: 14-19) the glorious heavens (Ecclesiasticus 43: 1-17) ; the glories of creation (Psalm 104: 1-6); litany of thanksgiving (Psalm 136: 4-9); Christ is the head of all creation (Colossians 1: 15-17).

Genesis 1 :1-10 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God 1of3 Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, Let there be light ; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. P4

Genesis 1:1-10 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath And God said, And God said, Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters. 2of3 So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. P4

Mix different shades of blue and paint your idea of the dome of heaven.

Genesis 1:1-10 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath And God said, Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 3of3 P4

The Old Testament was written down in Hebrew, the language Jesus read. Which version or translation is your class Bible?

E&O P4 RERC 1-01a I am discovering God's precious gift of life and reflect on how this reveals God's love for me. the glorious heavens The heavens declare the glory of God. By Gerald Manley Hopkins - (a Jesuit poet) Core learning: I know God creates the earth, sun, moon and stars and the angels, and I can appreciate their beauty and harmony e.g., s the first account of the Creation (Genesis 1: 1-10 & 1: 14-19) the glorious heavens (Ecclesiasticus 43: 1-17) ; the glories of creation (Psalm 104: 1-6); litany of thanksgiving (Psalm 136: 4-9); Christ is the head of all creation (Colossians 1: 15-17).

Ecclesiasticus 43:1-17 1of4 The Splendour of the Sun RERC 1-01a Mystery of God The pride of the higher realms is the clear vault of the sky, as glorious to behold as the sight of the heavens. The sun, when it appears, proclaims as it rises what a marvellous instrument it is, the work of the Most High. At noon it parches the land, and who can withstand its burning heat? A man tending a furnace works in burning heat, but three times as hot is the sun scorching the mountains; it breathes out fiery vapours, and its bright rays blind the eyes. Great is the Lord who made it; at his orders it hurries on its course. P4

A man tending a furnace works in burning heat, but three times as hot is the sun scorching the mountains.

Ecclesiasticus 43:1-17 (cont d) The Marvels of Nature RERC 1-01a Mystery of God By his command he sends the driving snow and speeds the lightnings of his judgement. Therefore the storehouses are opened, and the clouds fly out like birds. In his majesty he gives the clouds their strength, and the hailstones are broken in pieces.. The voice of his thunder rebukes the earth; when he appears, the mountains shake. 3of4 At his will the south wind blows; so do the storm from the north and the whirlwind. He scatters the snow like birds flying down, and its descent is like locusts alighting. P4

Discuss experiences of snow and hail. Read the psalm aloud after the discussion.

Ecclesiasticus 43:1-17 (cont d) RERC 1-01a Mystery of God The Glory of the Stars and the Rainbow The glory of the stars is the beauty of heaven, a glittering array in the heights of the Lord. On the orders of the Holy One they stand in their appointed places; they never relax in their watches.. Look at the rainbow, and praise him who made it; it is exceedingly beautiful in its brightness. It encircles the sky with its glorious arc; the hands of the Most High have stretched it out. 4of4 P4

The glory of the stars: discuss if you have seen stars. - make links to science topic work in prior learning.

Can you list the colours of the rainbow? Paint a rainbow in watercolour, mixing the colours. Display with the title The glory of the rainbow.

Psalm 104: 1-6 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God The Glories of Creation Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honour and majesty, wrapped in light as with a garment. You stretch out the heavens like a tent, you set the beams of your. chambers on the waters, you make the clouds your chariot, you ride on the wings of the wind, you make the winds your messengers, fire and flame your ministers. 1of2 P4

You, O Lord make fire and flame your ministers. Discuss how candles represent both faith and prayer. Visit a Church and allow children to light a votive candle.

Psalm 136:1-9 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God God s Work in Creation and in History O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures for ever. O give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love. endures for ever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures for ever; 2of2 P4

God s work in creation and in history.

Colossians 1:15-17 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Christ is the head of all creation. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions. or rulers or powers, all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 1of1 P4

E&O P4 RERC 1-01a I am discovering God's precious gift of life and reflect on how this reveals God's love for me. Revise the liturgical seasons, briefly. Ask pupils to display items representing each season. Consider appointing sacred space monitors. Core learning: I know that, just as the earth has seasons, which are influenced by the sun and moon (see Genesis 1: 14), so too the Church s year is divided into seasons, which we call the liturgical year: Advent, Christmastide, Ordinary Time, Lent and Eastertide.

Genesis 1: 14 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God The Seasons of the Earth And God said, Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for. days and years, P4

The liturgical cycle of the year. Remind pupils that this cycle is ongoing.

Do not be concerned at rereading some of the scriptural texts. This is an opportunity for depth and enjoyment.

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God 5of14 Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Then God. said, Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it. And it was so. P4

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it.. Genesis 1 :14-19 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God 7of14 Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath And God said, Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, and let them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth. And it was so. God made the two great lights the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night and the stars. P4

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath God set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. 8of14 P4

Genesis 1 9of14 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath And God said, Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky. So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. P4

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind. And it was so. God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good. 10of14 P4

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath Then God said, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 11of14 P4

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath 12of14 God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth. God said, See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. P4

Genesis 1 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food. And it was so. God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. 13of14 P4

Genesis 2:1-4 RERC 1-01a Mystery of God Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done.
