CALL TO WORSHIP OPENING PRAYER MORNING WORSHIP September 3, 2017, 11:00 A.M. Before the service, speak to God. During the service, let God speak to you. After the service, speak to one another. *HYMN: Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing Hymn No. 11 *CONFESSION *Invitation *Prayer of Confession: Lord, we have sinned, without considering how much you love us. You see our sins more clearly than we can ourselves. You know when we are indifferent to your Word, the Bible; how often we forget to pray; the times we come unwillingly to worship; and yet we turn to you when we are in trouble. You know when we are untruthful and when we think evil of others. You see our anger and unfairness to our friends. You know how hard it is for us to forgive. Forgive us and make us clean, so that we can obey your call to take up your cross and follow you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. *Silent Prayer WORSHIP WITH TITHES AND OFFERINGS Offertory: *Doxology: Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen *HYMN: How Firm a Foundation Hymn No. 408 *DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS: For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 *RESPONSE: Hymn No. 813 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, World without end. Amen SCRIPTURE READING Matthew 16: 21-28 SERMON Rev. Keith A. McClain The Path Before Us *HYMN: My Jesus, I love Thee Hymn No. 79 *BENEDICTION *RESPONSE: Hymn No. 690 (*) Those who are able are asked to stand He leadeth me, He leadeth me; By His own hand He leadeth me: His faithful follower I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me. His faithful follower I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me.
