Authorised Lay Ministry Training Please encourage potential candidates within your congregations to consider applying for ALM training. Lay ministry is thriving in many different ways, and Authorised Lay Ministry further enables and affirms this. Many people want to offer their time and talents in particular ways, and this scheme offers them a short but focused Diocesan training course, to equip them for specific roles in their parishes. It encourages local diversity and promotes diocesan collegiality. The next course begins on 29 th September, 2018. The process of parish selection and discernment has already begun, and should have ideally have been completed by now, so that there is sufficient time to organise the appropriate training sessions. However, if you still know of potential candidates for training, please do get in touch. Here are some key dates you may like to know well in advance: 29 September 2018 First Saturday of the Course 2 February, 9 March, 6 April 2019 Spring Term Saturdays 6 July 2019 Final Saturday of the Course 15 September 2019 Celebration of ALM Ministry For more information please visit http://www.cofe-worcester.org.uk/mission-and-ministry/your-christian-calling/authorisedlay-ministry/ or contact Emma Woollaston, training@cofe-worcester.org.uk, 01905 732812 Bishop s Certificate Please encourage members of your congregations to sign up for the new Bishop s Certificate Course. It will help them learn more about Scripture and the life of a Christian disciple. This course relates Christian faith to life and community. It will build them up and encourage them in faith as they share together in a group. It only costs 30 for the whole course, payable before you start. There are 30 sessions, starting in September 2018 and each one lasts about 1 ½ to 2 hours. Most courses run on a weekly basis over three terms, with the usual breaks for holidays, but each group can plan its own timetables. No academic qualifications are required - but you will need enthusiasm, interest and the willingness to commit yourself to attending the course. For further details please visit our website, http://www.cofe-worcester.org.uk/mission-and-ministry/your-christiancalling/bishops-certificate/.
