Throughout this newsletter, you will learn of upcoming events and ways Anderson continues to move forward. The City of Anderson Annual Christmas Celebration will be held on December 1 st with activities starting at 3:00 p.m. There will be a visit with Santa, snowball fights, a huge polar bear slide and, of course the Christmas Parade! More information about the celebration is in the following pages. Also featured in this newsletter is information about the improvements of our Anderson parks. This year, we have made upgrades to Belmont, Walnut, Streaty, Geater, Shadyside, Pulaski, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Jackson Parks. In addition we widened and paved our trail system from 8 th St. to Scatterfield Rd. The Park and Recreation Department and I will also be recognizing 20 community leaders that have helped make Anderson a great place to live. A ceremony will be held in Anderson Community Park early next year. It is an honor to serve as your mayor and during this Thanksgiving season I urge you to spend time with the people you love and I sincerely hope you have a fun and safe Holiday. The Animal Protection League Inc. held The Fur Long walk at Hoosier Park on October 7 th! If you re interested in adopting one of these furry friends, please visit The Animal Protection League Inc., Indiana website: inapl.org The City of Anderson Park and Recreation Board will be honoring community leaders at the Anderson Community Park, located on the corner of Madison Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. explained that those listed below were nominated and selected by the Park Board. Their names, along with the nature of their community service/leadership activity, will be engraved on memorial bricks that will be laid in the park. The ceremony date will be announced soon. The selection committee included Betty Williams, Jack Keesling, Tom Brown, Lora Jean Poole and Marilyn Goree. Mayor Broderick presents proclamation to Bonny Clark, an upstanding citizen and leader in our community. Thank you for everything you do Bonny. Mayor Broderick and the Economic Development Department met with Japanese companies in Japan this month to increase economic growth in Anderson. Mayor Broderick, Police Chief Tony Watters and the Anderson Police Department presented the annual Trunk or Treat event on October 26 th at Dickmann Town Center in Downtown Anderson. Rain or shine, this was a fun and successful event the whole family could enjoy. Mayor Broderick's renovation of Horne Park located at 7th and John St. is complete! The improvements on the park included a new shelter house, a picnic table, a 3 bay swing, a typhoon slide, a bumblebee spring rider, and park benches. The newly renovated park will serve all age groups. Belmont Park is currently on phase 2 of its renovation. Phase 2 includes expanding the playground area and surface and adding one ten spin and one 360 degree typhoon slide. Mayor Broderick said, these improvements are a continuation of our work to upgrade our parks that provide quality of life for our citizens. We have been making improvements in our parks during the last 2 years, including upgrades to Belmont, Walnut, Streaty, Geater, Shadyside, Pulaski, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Jackson Parks. Community Block Grant Funds were used for the improvements, saving general tax dollars. 3

Mayor Thomas Borderick, Jr. and Luca Bonini, CEO of Italpollina, proudly cut the ribbon to officially open the doors to Italpollina s new North American facility on October 26 th. The new state-of-the-art headquarters and production facility now has the largest production capacity for 100% vegetal-based biostimulant products for use in agriculture. Italpollina has added over $10 million in investment and will bring upwards of 35 jobs to Anderson. Mayor Broderick says, We continue to bring great companies to Anderson through our hard work and continuing efforts. Italpollina has been an exceptional participant in the community. We expect great things from the North America Headquarters and their investment in Anderson. 5
Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Public Works David Eicks and the City of Anderson s Municipal Light & Power director Anthony Pochard sent seven line workers to Tallahassee Florida to assist in restoring power after Hurricane Michael. Some Tallahassee residents reached out to the City of Anderson and had this to say: The city is proud to cooperate in providing this valuable technical assistance that will help another community in their time of need. I am proud of the hard work and kindness shown by the crew. Their effort reinforces my belief in the City of Anderson, Mayor Broderick stated. Hurricane Michael was determined a category 4 hurricane. Anderson personnel have assisted in restoring 90% of power to the approximately 10,000 customers affected during the storm. 6
