Page 2 From the Pastor Welcome New Member Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means, God with us. -Matthew 1:23 When we worship during the Christmas season, we are really celebrating the incarnation of Jesus. When we observe the Lord s Supper, we are celebrating the Incarnation. Jesus coming to earth is the very good news we proclaim to a world that has forgotten what very good news sounds like. God has come in flesh and blood as the fulfillment of a promise. This gives us real hope! Larnce Hartman 161 Northgate (03) One theologian said it like this, Jesus exploded into the life of ancient Israel, the life of the whole world, in fact! He came not as a teacher of timeless truths, nor as a great moral example, but as the one through whose life, death, and resurrection God s rescue operation was put into effect, and the cosmos turned its great corner at last. Without the Incarnation, we would never fully know the depths to which we are loved or the lengths to which God can be trusted. That is what we celebrate each Christmas. Giving gifts should remind us of the greatest Gift ever given. It is a joy to welcome Larnce Hartman to our fellowship. He is already praying for where he will be involved at IBC! Also, I am looking forward to the Lord s Supper this Sunday in both of our morning services. Make plans to be here! Blessed to be your pastor, Bro.
