Adventurers with Jesus 4th Quarter 2018 Lesson 1 Bible Quiz: Help Noah find the materials he needs to build the ark on the other side of the maze! There are many people in the Bible who are called righteous, but Noah was the first. Noah was righteous because he followed the laws of God and represented the way a godly person should live. Noah wasn t perfect and let down God sometimes. However, righteousness was found in him because he would repent from his sin and turn back to the way God wanted him to live. Noah was also righteous because he obeyed the specific commands the Lord had given him. Noah had faith that God would bring a flood, though it did not occur until many years later. Noah labored, building the Ark until its completion. Once the flood came, Noah was saved because of his righteousness. As Christians, we also should focus on being righteous and living our lives for the Lord. We should heed His laws and understand the plan He has for us is always better than our own.
Lesson 2 Bible Quiz: True or False Determine whether the statement is true or false. If false, rewrite it so the sentence is true. 1. The people who lived where Abram was born only worshiped the Lord. 2. Abram s father was named Terah. 3. God called Abram to go to Rome. 4. Abram took only his wife, Sarai, with him when he left to follow God s call. 5. We can trust God s plans for our lives. If you have spent a lot of time in church, you probably have heard others talking about God s callings on their lives. A calling is something someone feels he or she has been asked by God to do, such as Abram in today s story. God called Abram to leave his family and his country and go to a place he did not know. God calls many different people to do many different things. As Christians, we know that God calls us to love Him and to love others. However, God calls individuals to do specific things. For some, it may be a calling to preach or a call to mission work. For others, God may call them to be doctors or lawyers in service to Him through their work. God has a calling for all of His followers. Will you answer His calling on your life?

When we do that, we let people down, hurt their feelings, or destroy our relationships. Promises are very important to the Lord. In the Bible, God kept every single promise He made to His people. The only promise we are waiting for is Jesus second coming. God wants us to take our promises to Him and others just as seriously as He takes His promises to us. In today s story, He promised Abraham and Sarah they would have son. One year later, He delivered on His promise. We always can trust God to keep His promises, including when we fail to keep ours.
Lesson 4 Bible Quiz: Cross Word Across 1. What Rebekah rode on to travel to meet Isaac. 3. What the servant did before meeting Rebekah. 5. Abraham s son and Rebekah s husband. Down 2. Isaac s father. 4. What Rebekah did, showing she was the one for Isaac. God hears all the prayers we send up to Him. Sometimes, we can pray for things we really want, such as a new video game or for our crushes to like us. God hears those prayers and answers them according to what is best for our relationship with Him. Other times, we pray for things we need, such as for family members to be healed of cancer or for our parents to find new jobs. Sometimes God answers those prayers quickly, as He did when the servant in today s story prayed to Him, but sometimes God makes us wait. Waiting for God to answer our prayers can be difficult and test our faith. However, if we keep in mind the Lord s plans for us always are better than our own and that everything He does is for our own good, then we can know that regardless of what happens everything will be OK. If our prayer aren t answered, we have to remember God sees and knows the bigger picture, and our prayers weren t part of that big picture. Trust that the Lord always is doing things with our best interests in mind.

Abraham In ancient Hebrew times, there was a special blessing that was given to a father for him to give to his eldest son. It was a blessing that gave the eldest son the majority of the inheritance, family leadership, and God s favor on his life. It could be given only once, and it was sacred to God and His people. When Esau gave up his birthright, he gave away the greatest gift he ever would have received on earth. Esau did not care about his blessing and willingly gave up his birthright because of his hunger. When God gives us blessings, He wants us to value them and understand the importance of what He has given us. God s gifts come with responsibilities. If we bless God with the gifts He gives us, then we will bring Him glory.
Lesson 6 Bible Quiz: Maze Deception is one of the most effective ways to destroy the relationships we have. At its root, deception is lying. Usually deception is a very intense form of lying. As in our story today, people will go to great lengths to deceive someone else, perhaps going as far as to dress up and behave as someone else. Usually they do this to benefit themselves. When we are tempted to deceive someone, we should remember we never can deceive the Lord. He always sees right through what we are doing. When our deception is discovered, it can destroy our lives, families, and friendships. As we will see with Jacob, it would take many years and a miracle from the Lord to mend the relationship with his brother. Always trust that the truth is the best route to take, including when it is the hardest way.
Lesson 7 Bible Quiz: True or False Determine whether the statement is true or false. If false, rewrite it so the sentence is true. 1. Jacob was sent away to find a wife. 2. God came to Jacob in a vision. 3. Jacob saw a stairway leading to heaven. 4. God punished Jacob and abandoned him. 5. Jacob set a marker to commemorate his experience with God. You probably have had some crazy dreams before. Sometimes they can be scary or just plain weird. Other times they may mean something to you or make a lasting impression. God spoke to many people in the Bible through dreams, as in today s story. Sometimes God uses our dreams to send us messages. When we feel as if we have had a dream from the Lord, we should be very careful to determine whether it is actually from the Lord. If you feel as if you have had an important dream, be sure to talk about it with your pastor or parent before acting on the dream. God speaks to us in many different ways, but dreams can be exciting.

There are many instances of jealousy throughout the Bible, including today s story. God wants us to be thankful for the blessings He has given us and not compare what we have to what others have. Sometimes this can be hard to do, but the Bible says not to covet or be jealous of what others have. In fact, it is one of the Ten Commandments. In today s story, the sisters were jealous of each other because of what the other had. Although they were in a difficult situation, they should have trusted God to give them what they needed without haboring jealousy in their hearts.
Lesson 9 Bible Quiz: Cross Word Across 2. The One who reminded us how important it is to love our neighbor. 3. Who we should love most. 5. The power behind how we love God. Down 1. Who we should love as ourselves. 4. What we should love God with. Answers: The word law can seem scary and strict. We should remember the laws of our local government and officials and abide by them. God s Law is a little different. God s Law rules over everything and everyone. In the books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy, there are many laws written for God s people that precipitated Jesus death on the cross. Many of those laws no longer are needed, especially the ones about sacrifices. People used to sacrifice to God as a way of repenting of their sins and gaining forgiveness. Now, we have Jesus who became our sacrifice so we wouldn t have to make animal sacrifices anymore. However, there are still many laws that God has given us that we must keep, especially the Ten Commandments. Keeping these laws won t make our lives miserable, but rather make our relationship with the Lord much stronger.

Their numbers grew greatly, each son having many sons and grandsons. This is the origin of the Jewish people. Each tribe is named after the sons of Jacob. Jesus was from the tribe of Judah. Today, we are all part of God s family because Jesus made it possible for us to be grafted into the family of God.
Lesson 11 Bible Quiz: Maze Often when we think about worship, we think about being in a church with music playing and raising our hands praising the Lord. However, this is only one form of worship. In fact, there are many different types of worship. Sometimes we may worship something or someone and not realize what we are doing. We have to be careful about this. When we spend all our time with a person or doing something we love, we can begin to forget about the Lord. We need to be sure we are worshiping the Lord. If we worship other people or things, we can hurt our relationships with God.
Lesson 12 Bible Quiz: True or False Determine whether the statement is true or false. If false, rewrite it so the sentence is true. 1. An angel appeared to Mary. 2. Mary refused to be Jesus mother. 3. Mary didn t believe God would take care of her. 4. Simeon was moved by the Holy Spirit to find Jesus. 5. God promised Simeon that he wouldn t die until he saw the Messiah. For hundreds of years, the Hebrew people had been waiting on a Messiah whom they thought would deliver them from Roman oppression. Throughout their history, the Hebrew people seemed always to be under the rule of someone else because of their sin. They thought the Messiah whom the prophets foretold would be a great earthly king who would help them defeat their enemies. When Jesus was born, He did not arrive as an earthly king. He was born in a stable, grew to be a carpenter by trade, and was crucified at the hands of the Romans who held political rule. We know that as Messiah, He came to rid the world of sin through living a perfect life and dying for the sins of the world. Jesus the Messiah saved the entire world from certain eternal death through His death.

Many people do good things, but it is the motives behind those good works that matter the most. As Christians, we should make sure we are doing good to others to bring glory to the Lord, not for ourselves or for our salvation (which is impossible anyway as we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone). There are many other religions that teach that in order to go to heaven, the follower must do good things; but for Christians, the opposite is true. We first become saved, then we do good works in obedience and accordance to what Jesus teaches. We show God s love to others so they can feel and know God s love.
