The sun is higher in the sky, the air is warmer, and smiles are staying a little longer on the faces of our students and staff. Spring is good and necessary to restore hope in the hearts of all who have been keeping afloat through the long winter months. The same thing happens during lent. We reflect, pray and remind ourselves of the hope that is in our Saviour, Jesus Christ and we rejoice in the hope of Easter. As we celebrate the rising of our Lord we will also see the rise of green grass and spring flowers. We are blessed to be restored with so much hope. Hope is happening in our community. As I sit at my desk and hear our Early Learning Speech Pathologist, Darryl Graham, enthusiastically celebrate the goals met by one of his students, I smile with joy and hope. One cannot deny the optimism Darryl is feeling as he enjoys his time with our students As I listen to and watch Darryl and our student I am full of joyful hope because we have tremendous external supports for our students here at St.Patrick s School. Simone Linn, our Family School Liaison, helps students work through anxiety and emotional difficulties. Her warm smile and effective strategies restore hope in our students and their families. As Darryl and Simone divide their time to be with us I appreciate their kindness and hope they bring to our school. I am very excited to restore your hope in the renovation of our new school. Mr. Gillespie and I took a tour through our building on Tuesday. All construction crews were working very hard and the north wing is dry walled with one coat of paint on it. It looks amazing!! The renovation is very close to being on time and it looks like our new school will be done in the July. We will begin in our new school year in our new school!! As the spring unfolds I will be giving renovation updates through my weekly update SPT Rocks. Great things are happening at SPT this month. We will celebrate St. Patrick s Day, continue to celebrate our Bright Lights, and welcome the Ned Show. We will be going to the St. Francis Production of the Little Mermaid at the Yates in Lethbridge, and our classes will be visiting our church to walk through the Stations of the Cross with our Youth Minister, Kaime Kuryvial. Our annual Show and Shine is on the 22nd and report cards will be going home on the 23rd. There is so much to look forward to and I hope to see you all in the month of March. God Bless, Mrs. Nevil
March is already upon us. It is hard to believe we are already more than half way through the school year. While many were skeptical about how our year would be, with a portable building, sharing space, and overseeing a renovation, we have been very blessed this year. As I reflect during Lent I am reminded that God always finds a way to provide what we truly need. With Easter quickly upon us, I encourage you all to renew your relationship with Jesus and the Church. St. Augustine s Church has a number of opportunities to help you on your journey. Penitential services will be held at St. Augustine s Church on Monday, March 5 at 7:00pm and St. Joseph s Church on Thursday, March 22 at 7:00pm. Additionally, St. Augustine s Church, under the direction of the new youth minister, Kaime Kurvial, has added a monthly youth mass. This mass will be held on the last Sunday of each month at 5:00pm with supper to follow. I encourage all youth and their families to attend. Students will also be participating this month in our student retreat. On Monday, March 26 students will spend the day focused on various types of prayer. This aligns perfectly with our divisional faith plan for the year, Growing in Spirit. We are excited to have Kaime Kurvial join us for the day as well as First Nations guests who will share their connections to prayer. I provide for you the Act of Contrition to guide you in prayer this month. My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, And to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy. Amen Have a blessed month. Mrs. Calder Wednesday, March 28th is the kick off to our Jump Rope for the heart campaign. Apr. 25th will be our Jump Rope Day and the final day for pledge sheets to be in. 2
