President s Opening Remarks. Jim Heverin was unable to attend the meeting. V. Reading/Approval of Minutes. The minutes from the April 26, 2005 Parish Council meeting were reviewed. Motion to accept the minutes as written was approved by unanimous vote. VI. Old and New Business. Chapel Choir. A purchase order for music will be done in support of a music workshop 14-16 July. Additionally, the choir appreciation dinner is still in the planning phase, but hope to have it occur by the end of June. 101 Discipleship Program. The 101 Discipleship training is still a go looking for it to be on a Saturday, 1000-1400, with 4 pastors each teaching a 1-hour block. Idea is to have everyone go thru the 4-hour instruction. Then at the end of the instruction, attendees sign a commitment to the chapel. Some people have expressed that they want to do it in small groups. CH Broome has given the OK to do the training in a small group setting. But everyone must go thru all of the material in order to get certified. There will also be a large group the first one will be community-wide, then each church work to get others sinto it. It was stated that all Parish Council members must go thru this training. 1

Question was asked will new members be required to do this training right away? Answer is that after several (2 to 4) weeks, if they are still coming to church, then we will ask them to do so. The idea is to then generate a chapel roster based on those who successfully complete the 101 Discipleship training. The training will occur sometime after 40 Days of Purpose (which has 2 weeks left). Children s Sermon. Question was asked if the Children s sermon would continue. Seems that children s church should be enough for the children why do they also need the Children s sermon? It cuts into the time David and Nancy have with the children for children s church. It was stasted that this will continue it is well-received by the congregants - at least until the end of 40 Days of Purpose. Then it will go to once a month, on Communion Sunday, which is the first Sunday of each month. Baptisms. There are a lot of baptisms going on at NPC so far, they are going well. The chapel will be getting a baptismal altar, which will be kept in the basement of the chapel. It was suggested that for future baptisms, as a memorial of the event, people might be presented with large bath towels that have NPC stitched on them. A motion to procure monogrammed towels for future baptisms was made and approved by unanimous vote. Planning Conference. It was recommended that the new Parish Council plan for the next Planning Conference before actually having it. It seems that we did not accomplish what we said we would do from the last Planning conference (held in 2004). Saturday, September 10 was set as a tentative date for the 2005 Planning Conference. It was suggested that the conference be held at LETRA in a lecture facility inside the lodge. Positions on the Parish Council: Music Director. Doris L. will continue to be the Music Director for NPC. This is a contract position, with contract renewal on Oct 1. Fellowship. Marie Strickland agreed to continue to do this. Visitation/Flower. Lois Whetstone agreed to continue this. Worship. Stonie Whetstone will continue to do this. Equipment/Facilities. Leon Rogers agreed to take this. Outreach. Still vacant. It was recommended that a couple of other Points of Contact be considered a Youth Representative (0930 and 1100), and a PWOC representative (0930 and 1100). Both would be non-voting members. A motion was made and approved by unanimous vote to add these positions as Points of Contact for NPC. Sunday School. CH VanderJagt stated that he he has a vision to have more depth of study in our religious education. He desires to have adult Sunday school for both the 0930 and 1100 services. He is still working on how to make it happen. Constitution. It was stated that all Parish Council members should read and review the New Post Chapel Parish Council Constitution. Then we need to discuss it. Rosters. It was stated that there should be a roster for the ushers. There have been people asking to be ushers. Stonie W. is the coordinator for the ushers CH VanderJagt will discuss this with Stonie. Ushers should probably have some kind of training. 2

VII. A. Calendar. No action. B. Comments by NCOIC, Attending Chaplains, President. None. IX. Adjournment/Benediction. The meeting was closed with a prayer at 1947. 3
