Holy Week Events 2017 Wednesday Taize Service, 7pm @ St. Michael s, Barrington New for 2017 on Wednesday in Holy Week is a Taizé service. Taizé is contemplative service that encourages people to rest in God, with dim lights, moments for meditation, and unique music. Thursday Maunday Thursday Service, 7:00pm @ St. Mark s Church, Barrington Hills, Service commemorating Jesus last supper with his disciples; communion, a light supper; symbolic feet washing and prayers in the garden mimicking Jesus actions the evening before his crucifixion. Maundy Thursday Service, 7pm @ Church of the Resurrection, Wheaton, In this service, we join Jesus' disciples at the Last Supper, partaking in the events that took place the night before Jesus was crucified. We follow Christ's words and actions as we wash one other's feet and remember him through Communion. Childcare for children ages five and younger will be available until Communion (approximately 8:30pm). Friday Stations of the Cross, 9:30am / 7:00pm @ St. Mark s Church, Barrington Hills Walking the last steps of Jesus from his sentencing to laying in the tomb; scripture, prayers, and hymns. Stations of the Cross, 12:30pm / 2pm @ Church of the Resurrection, Wheaton, In this ancient devotional service, we walk with Christ through that last hours of his life, reflecting on his sufferings, death, and burial through music and prayer. The service moves physically from station to station as we contemplate each moment leading to Christ's death. Our Chancel Choir will be singing at both services. All ages are invited to participate in Stations; there will be no childcare available.
Good Friday Family Service, 3:00pm @ Church of the Resurrection, Wheaton, New this year! Families are invited to join us for a special Good Friday service in the afternoon, designed with little ones in mind.the service will include worship, the memorized Gospel reading, a children's homily, and family prayer at the cross. Good Friday Service, 5pm & 7:30pm @ Willow Creek, Barrington Interactive Good Friday Family Experience, 3:00-5:30pm @ Atonement Lutheran Church, Barrington, Experience the road to Calvary and the path to the empty tomb in this experiential Easter event that deepens your appreciation for the Passion of Christ. Touch, taste, smell, see, hear, and experience Bible events in real and memorable ways. Meet your Tour Guide and a small group of travelers at the Customs Station, get your Passport and check in. Go with your guide to Holy Land stations to meet people portraying Bible characters who describe Passion events. Get actively involved by waving palm branches, tasting Passover foods, singing songs, and more. Collect Passport Stickers, creating a souvenir book that recalls Holy Week and this experience. This program is appropriate for kids, adults and seniors alike. Come with your family, and invite another family to join in the experience! Saturday Easter Festival, 12 noon / 3:00pm @ Church of the Resurrection, Wheaton This service is a festival of art, music, and story, taking the viewers on a creative, poignant, and sometimes hilarious journey through the stories of the Old Testament that point to Christ. Childcare for five and under available during the service. Seating is open, no tickets necessary. Children's programs are available for infants grade 5. General admission seats are available on every level in the Main Auditorium you simply have to line up outside the auditorium doors. Guests with reserved seats must be in their seats 15 minutes prior to the start of the service, after which all unoccupied seats will be released for general admission. Holy Saturday Service, 7:00pm @ St. Mark s Church, Barrington Hills, Lighting of the new Paschal candle; a vigil with readings and celebration of the first communion/eucharist of Eastertide The Vigil of Easter, 8:00pm @ Church of the Atonement, Barrington, One of the most significant and meaningful services of the year, telling the story of salvation and celebrating God s victory over darkness, sin and death. You will experience the account of God s saving action, from creation through the death and resurrection of Jesus, as told in word, song, symbol and action. A highly sensory and varied worship experience that people of all ages find to be engaging, meaningful and not at all boring! This exciting night begins gathered outside, with the lighting of a new fire and a procession into a darkened sanctuary. The lighting of candles, the telling of stories of God and his people from Scripture, the sprinkling of baptismal water, the burst of light with the announcement of the resurrection, and the sharing of the meal make this a time to understand anew what God has done across all time.

Join us in rejoicing with dancing and Communion. (The 6am service concludes our all-night Vigil with the First Acclamation of Easter, the Holy Noise, and baptisms.) For Children: All ages are invited to join us for the 6am service, as there will be no children's ministry at that service. At the 10am, we will have our full RezKids ministry, from nursery to elementary.
