Shalom Friends from Kathmandu, Nepal! September 16, 2011 View from porch, 2 nd floor View from top of house - South Front of house, notice tree columns Praise the Lord, we have found our house at last. We stood in faith and confessed with our mouths Isaiah 32:18 for several months concerning a house in Kathmandu. My people shall live in peaceful dwelling places; in secure homes and undisturbed places of rest Isa. 32:18. It took us 45 days since arriving in Kathmandu to find such a place. It is located in the area we wanted. It is a very nice house with enough rooms to accommodate all of us here in Kathmandu. We have moved into the new house as of September 12; and we are unpacking and slowly getting settled into the new house. The house has views of the surrounding mountains in all directions, especially the North and South. This house comes with a 2 year lease agreement, a much lower rent than we expected and has security at the main gate entrance. Praise the Lord, for supplying all of our needs at the right time. The Lord has His Hand over us in every step of the way!! Thank you to our friends who listened to our urgent need to find a house and came through for us!! We speak God s outpouring of blessings upon you all!! Thank You Again. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MISSION TRIP TO CHEPANG VILLAGE: September 4 through 11 almost 90 percent of them are leading life under utter poverty. Thank you friends for your participation in sending a team of two to reach to one of the most backward, indigenous tribes of Nepal, called the Chepangs who inhabit the remote and sparse contours, outback and rolling precipices of the districts of Makwanpur, Chitwan, and Dhading in southern Nepal. Less than 15 percent Chepangs are literates and Our team took a local bus to reach a small village and then from there, they walked 9 hours on foot up the hill carrying Bibles, children s books, and Bible tracks for distribution. We were also able to provide tooth brush/paste to about 100 children. They were all delighted to receive them. The team ministered to several people along the journey. They teamed up with five local village pastors and walked 27 hours to reach different villages ministering to local churches as well as evangelizing many Chepang villagers.
It was a treacherous and very rugged journey to reach to this area. Small bridges & suspension bridges were available in the beginning to ford the streams, as they walked through many villages. But these were far & few. Our team had to ford through some 16 rivers to get to many villages. Many times the water was chest high, as this is the Monsoon season in Nepal. Our team ministering at a Chepang village church fellowship worshiping the Lord. Distributing dental hygiene items to local school children. In this remote area the government runs school through grade four. Older children walk four (4) hours to go to school in another area. Team prayed for school children and many received the Lord.
So many of these poor children go to school bare feet because parents cannot afford to buy shoes or clothes. A local pastor preparing meal for our team. Their main staple is corn meal mixed in water. Heaven rejoices because more than 120 new people gave their lives to Jesus Christ during this Missions Outreach! We have turned them over to the local pastors for follow ups and much needed teaching for a successful Christian walk. And many backslidden Christians have re-dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ. Those who gave to our efforts in spreading the Gospel in this region, we say Thank you. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ LIGHT HOUSE FOUNDATION On September 5 th we were privileged to receive a tour from Pastor Raju Sundas of the Hosanna Christian Church. The picture below is a boarding house for girls that houses children who are of Badi tribe. The Badi tribe s profession is prostitution and parents of children engage their girls in this business from early on. This tribe primarily reside in far western Nepal. Most of the girls who live in this hostel are sexually abused and have been rescued. This boarding house provides a fabulous environment for education and Christ centered teaching. The house consists of 34 girls, ranging in ages from 5 through 14. It can handle up to 40 girls, located on 5 floors. All the rooms were stocked with double bunk beds, bedding and well lit rooms. View of house entrance Rooms were well organized, clean & neat in appearance
While visiting with ps. Sundas, we became overwhelmed by what we witnessed, as we ourselves have been called by the Lord to work with children and women facing tremendous hardships and to provide for their needs. This has been a divine connection as our hearts meshed with this brother in the Lord to further the Kingdom of Heaven. He has a school, a couple of orphanages, a Bible Training Center, 20 churches throughout Nepal; and 2 boarding homes for little girls who have suffered sexual abuse. Most of the little girls at the boarding homes have been sexually abused. Light House Foundation has provided a safe place for these young children. We will be volunteering our time in another girl s boarding house that ps. Raju has near our new ministry home. We are very thankful to the Lord as He has been ordering our steps for His cause. This is really exicting! Shovana and her father had the opportunity to teach at the training center from September 5 th through the 9 th. There were 40 students from various parts of Nepal including a student from India. It was a monumental event for father and daughter to teach together for the first time at a Bible Training Center. We were asked to teach them about Spirit Filled Leadership and had a blast teaching for five days!!
Training center building Typical room 8 beds This is a house converted into a classroom on the first floor, boy s dorm on the second and girl s dorm on the third floor. Overcrowding is the norm here, with 16 boys and 23 girls. There is a staff on 5 men on campus to oversee the day to day operation of this facility. Pastor Sodemba at the Bible Training Center The Bible Training Center provides four month training. Most of the students come from very poor families, in rural areas outside of the city. We are considering providing for their personal needs such as funds come into this ministry. Two of the women in this group are from the Chepang tribe. Our team just returned from ministering to this tribe of Nepal. Prayerfully they will gain the knowledge to help their people to come to know the Lord through the teachings in this college. NEPAL VISION ORPHANAGE Dil & Sita Thapa are native Nepali Christians and have lived in the Kathmandu Valley all their lives. In 1998 they lost their second teen age son in a car accident. At the funeral service of his beloved son, the Lord spoke to him and said that He d give him many sons and daughters. At the time Dil had no idea that the Lord was actually talking about taking care of orphan children. Today they have 19 orphaned children, ranging in ages from 4 18. There are 12 boys and 7 girls living in a large rented four stories home. Twelve of the nineteen children have sponsors and 7 are in need of sponsors. We felt in our hearts to somehow assist Dil and his wife in finding sponsors by showcasing their home and the children who are in need of sponsors. The Thapa Home One of the children s rooms Sagar Shahi age 6 Jina Joshi age 5 Abik Chhinal age 6 Kailas Budha - 8 Nisha Adhikari age 8 Sanjiv Bk age 8 Pratap Budha age 9 The average cost to support one child is $50 dollars per month / $600 per year. This is a great opportunity to support these children through their growing years, be a blessing to them and be blessed yourself by your participation.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This past Sunday on September 11, we had a powerful time of ministry at Hosanna church. About 20 people and several mothers with babies came forward for prayer for healing and deliverance. Many were healed from all types of afflictions and demonic spirit. We had a great time at the service as the Holy Spirit manifested in the lives of people. Praise the name of Jesus! He is awesome!! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ministry Prayer Focus: India Trip Planning to leave on October 12 for three weeks. Our outreach budget was $4000 of which we have received $1000 towards this trip. Pray for finances as we still need about $3000 to complete our Mission Trip expenses. Non-Tourist Visas Pray for favor in this area to obtain such Visas. We need $3,300 to start the process as quickly as possible. Starting in October, the Nepali government and the department of Energy will begin electricity load shedding by cutting power off for long periods of time; 14 to 16 hours per day. This will greatly hamper our work and the ability to stay in touch with friends abroad. Pray for finances so that we are able to install solar power that will provide electricity in the house. The cost is about $1500.00. The solar power appears to be the most effective and efficient way to combat such long periods without electricity. Currently the Nepal Electricity Authority is cutting power off a couple of hours per day and it is manageable. Eastern Nepal Mission Trip: Planning a Mission Outreach Trip in November to Eastern Nepal. We will be ministering in Tehrathum area with a team of 4 for a week. Mission Outreach estimated cost $2000. Western Nepal Mission Trip: Another Mission Outreach in late November/early December to Western Nepal. We will be visiting Doti district which is located in far west Nepal. There will be a team of three persons. The outreach estimated cost $1500. Our on-going ministry is helping: Local Native Missionaries and Autistic children. Effective this month, this ministry has decided to provide for monthly medical cost to one autistic young girl, Alisha. Also we have added Moti Sodemba as our native missionary for monthly support. We are praying for funds to add one more 16 year old autistic young man. Note: The Ministry Website is being revamped and we expect to be in operation very soon. We are looking forward to seeing the new website with lots of pictures of our adventures.
