20th Anniversary Celebration for Pastor Steve Vaughan At Second Branch December 1, 2013 You are all invited to celebrate with us Pastor Steve and Connie s 20th Anniversary serving and loving us at Second Branch Baptist Church. December Music Notes Wow! December is here already, and brings with it the season of Advent, a time of preparing our hearts to once again celebrate the birth of our Savior. Your Music Ministry, Drama, and Production Teams are very excited about what we will be sharing with you during this most special time of the year. The choir and friends have been preparing for this time since August, and have worked extremely hard to offer their very best in celebration of Jesus birth. The Music Department will present And On Earth, Peace on Sunday evening, December 15 th at You will not want to miss this thought-provoking, inspiring message of hope and peace. The Belles of the Branch will provide beautiful music prior to the beginning of the program at 6:15. The program will be followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Please make plans to attend this special evening, and invite lots of friends! In these uncertain times, it is quite easy to get caught up in the busyness of this season, and to also feel uncertain about tomorrow. However, we must all strive each day to remain focused on the Reason for the season, and make room for Him in every celebration. God, through the gift of His precious Son, reminds us that His faithfulness and His love for us are without fail and unending. Remember to celebrate with the angels, who sang, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will to all men. And like the shepherds, go out, spread the news of His birth, and praise God for all the things you have seen and heard! Wishing you the Merriest of Christmases and a Blessed New Year, Ellen Women's & Men s Ministry Fellowship Breakfast will be joining together for December All men, women and children are welcome. Childcare is provided, as well as breakfast for any kids that come. This fellowship breakfast will be on the second Sunday this month on December 8 at 8:00 a.m.. Join us for delicious food and fellowship. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer. We would like to have the count of all that will attend. We'd love to see you there! Join us for our Christmas musical presentation of And on Earth Peace December 15 at and a reception in our fellowship hall following.

From the Stewardship Team Second Branch Baptist Church has always been known for it's giving heart. Over the course of the past several months however, we have fallen considerably short of our budget needs. While we are not at the critical stage, we are looking at having to dip into emergency funds to sustain the current ministries and obligations of the church. As you consider how God leads you to support the efforts of His church, please pray for His guidance in this matter. God may place challenges in our path, but if we are true to Him all things will work for the good of His Kingdom. May God lead you as you commune with Him in prayer. Breakfast with Santa Saturday, December 7 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Community Welcome Food & Crafts Pictures with Santa! Mrs. Claus and the Christmas Story! Second Branch Baptist Church WMU - Women on Mission -December the 2nd we delivered to the Middle District Christmas Store presents and outfits for 34 Children. Thank you for your giving heart for the needy of our community. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions goal for SBBC 2013 is $10,000. Please note the screens during Worship for information on this crucial Missions work. The next WMU meeting is the 2nd Monday, Dec. 9th at at the home of Rita Johnson. Ladies, please join us. ritaboykin@me.com or brendagkyle@msn.com 804-639-7297 12217 Second Branch Road Chesterfield, VA. 23838 Info: 804-739-3460 Young Seniors Anyone who considers themselves to be a senior is welcome, members, non-members and the community. Our meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Our next meeting is December 19. For any additional information, please contact Jean Boso at 639-3407. Buckets of Love Thank you to all that have continued to support BUCKETS OF LOVE. Your efforts have enabled the local food bank to feed four families weekly. Please remember this ongoing ministry each time you shop. Just a few items from each person can go a long way in helping stop hunger in our area. Proverbs 22:9 states; "A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor." Wouldn t you like to see this happen? Well, you can help make it so by contributing to the Bus Fund! Make sure any donations are clearly marked BUS FUND

Did You Know? It s that wonderful time of year, when everyone s thoughts seem to turn toward home. Many people have made it part of their Christmas celebration to attend church. The Holy Spirit s urging to come to the Father seems to affect people, as their hearts are softer and the wonderful message of Christ s birth is refreshed in their mind. Most people know the words to Christmas carols and are comfortable singing along with the congregation, when normally they wouldn t sing at all. They listen with interest about the Virgin birth because they are familiar with the story and they aren t fearful of hearing something that will make them uncomfortable. That with all the changes that are going on in our world, Christmas remains one of the most "traditional" times in America. We as members of Christ s body, need to be more sensitive to the questions and concerns of spiritual seekers. As the Holy Spirit works and presents us opportunity we should proclaim the Good News that God became human in Jesus Christ, so that He could become the perfect sacrifice for us! Tell that Good News in our own words, through our own life, through our own experiences. Spiritual seekers are not looking to be "convinced;" they are looking for an introduction to the God who dwells in God's people. MJ What a gift you have to give to others! It s the greatest gift ever!! Jesus Christ!!! Answer to last month's question; Simon of Cyrene This month's question; What was the name of Ruth's Mother-in-law? God bless you all, may you have a wonderful Christmas! Recycling Recycling is a great thing to do! Proceeds from our big red recycling bin go towards the Youth Ministry Opportunities Fund. These funds help cover some of the costs for youth with camps, retreats, transportation, and equipment. Bring your newspapers to us when you come to church! Please note on the bin what can and cannot be recycled! Thursday Evening at - Casual in The Fellowship Hall Merry Christmas Love ~ Steve, Brian, Ellen, Dawn & Bettie
