News from the Church Office A very big thank you to Ruth Dewland who is finishing in the Church Office on Thursday 25 th ober. Ruth took over running the Church Office when Andrew was ill, and has done a superb job. We at St Faith s are indebted to her for her contribution towards our work and mission at St Faith s. We will be thanking Ruth publically at the Parish Eucharist and Sundays@11 on 28 th ober. During Ruth s time in the Church Office she has been ably assisted by many volunteers and their contribution is also much appreciated. Andrew Munro returned part time last week and will be away during half-term. He plans to do two weeks part time after half-term, with increased hours, and then return to work full time on the 12 th November. Reading at the Parish Eucharist and Evening Prayer The new lists for November, December and January are now at the back of the church on the Welcome Table. Please sign up if you would like to read. Your contribution is much appreciated and valued. Thank you. Christmas Day Lunch This year, we are again hoping to host a Christmas Day lunch in the Bulson Hall, for people who would otherwise be on their own. The lunch is from 11.30am to 2.00pm, although there is work to do beforehand. We are also looking for people to help with the lunch. If you would like to volunteer to provide this special occasion for others on Christmas Day, please speak to Paul Chamberlain, call him on 023 9200 6184, or email him at vicar@stfaithslee.org.uk. 2

Breast Cancer Awareness Month The collection is continuing for unwanted bras to support Breast Cancer Awareness month. Please put them in the container at the back of the church. If you would like to know more about St Faith s, please fill in a Welcome Card, found on the desk near the entrance to the church. St Faith s Vision Our vision is to be a welcoming progressive Christian community of all ages and all stages of faith, nurturing spiritual growth, and representing God s living presence in our town. 3

Or please tell one of the clergy, and they will follow it up. 4

TRAIDCRAFT WOW!! what a morning it turned out to be; thank you all for your support last Sunday. Jill and I were completely overwhelmed by so many of you wishing to help. You enabled us to triple our average sales of goods of 56 to 165. We have a stall this morning then we shall be back to every other week. There will be 3 more stalls to Advent, and only 5 more to Christmas. The new catalogues for Christmas cards and gifts are on the stall today along with Advent calendars. Please continue to help, and I will keep you advised about our sales and also developments of Traidcraft s progress. Thank you again, Cecily. The notice in last week s Weekly Notes about Traidcraft: Traidcraft is a UK-based Fairtrade organisation, established in 1979. Every fortnight, there is a Traidcraft stall at the Parish Eucharist. Some of you will be aware of the news from Traidcraft in September regarding their trading situation. Sales have been in a slow decline over the past few years, so they are now consulting on a proposal to cease trading at the end of 2018 which would create 68 redundancies. Nevertheless, I can confirm that the Company has not gone bust. THE ASSETS EXCEED LIABILITIES. We are advised that for Traidcraft PLC to continue in some form, it is critical for traders to have exceptional sales during the Autumn and Christmas periods. Therefore, I am appealing to you all, please help to increase our sales, so we can play our part in Traidcraft s future. Autumn catalogues and Advent Calendars are on the stall today and Christmas Cards can be ordered. I would like to say a big thank you to all our loyal patrons for your continued support. Real Advent Calendars can now be ordered - sign up on the welcome table next to the sound desk. 5

FaithWorks Faithworks is our twice-yearly news letter to our town! The latest edition of Faithworks will hopefully be available on Sunday 28 th ober, so that it can be distributed before Sunday 11 th November, when we have special Remembrance Sunday services to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. It will also contain information about Christmas events at St Faith s. Faithworks is delivered by people within the St Faith s community. If you could take some copies to deliver to roads in Lee, please do so. 6
