Nurturing the Faith In Our Prayers: This week we will be praying for the families of: Mr. Harry Claus, Ms. Marilyn Ludgin, Mr. & Mrs. Donald Raasch and Mrs. Marie Tessin. Devotion of the Week: In chapel this week, students in grades 3-8 were asked if they remembered the day they received their Bibles as second graders. What a wonderful memory that is for our students. This Sunday we will again witness parents placing God's Word into the hands of their child. May God bless all of our families as they read, mark, and inwardly digest God's Word on a daily basis. Second Grade Bible Distribution: This is the Sunday where our second grade students in our congregation have God's Word placed in their hands by their parents. What a blessing we have to read and hear God's Word and to nurture our children in Biblical truths. Thank you to our St. Peter Men's Club for purchasing these Bibles for our second graders. May God bless these second grade students as we stand together in God's Word. By Grace We're Saved! Come and join the Sunday School as they celebrate the Lutheran Reformation on Sunday, October 28, from 9:15am-10:15am in the school gym. There will be scavenger hunts for adults and kids, many stations of activities, and Reformation themed treats. Please bring your family and learn about why we still commemorate this important movement in history! Quote of the Week "My students were ready to go extra early today to get to practice. They can't contain their excitement." -Comment from Mrs. Morris about her students eagerness to play basketball. They had their first practice yesterday. In the Classroom Optimist Club Honorees: Each year, the Optimist Club of Saginaw invites junior and senior high schools in Saginaw County to send two representatives to join the Optimists at their annual Youth Appreciation Day Luncheon. The St. Peter staff has chosen two 8th graders who are accomplished leaders in the areas that the Optimist Club values school, home, church, and community. This year's 8th grade honorees are Ryleigh Sullivan and Adam Beyersdorf. Congratulations, Ryleigh and Adam! Square 1 Art Fundraiser: All St. Peter students, P3-8, have completed original artwork for the PTL fundraiser (see pictures at the top of the Panther Press). Their artwork can be printed on numerous items. Please look at the bulletin board by the office for the items that may be purchased. More information will be sent home next week and order forms will be sent home mid-november. The items ordered will be back in time for Christmas. Please consider supporting your artist and school. Holiday Wreath Fundraiser: The 7th grade class is selling 24" Frasier Fir Holiday Wreaths for $25 each until Nov. 1. If you are interested, contact any 7th grade student or call the office. Payment is due when ordering and checks should be made out to Artisans Landscaping. Spirit Day: There were a lot of great costumes today for our spirit day and a wonderful new lunch menu item. Thank you 5th-6th graders for choosing our spirit day today!

What's Your Story The Best Place for a Nap: Think about the last time you took a nap. Where were you? Did you fall asleep on the couch watching TV? Maybe you were riding in the car and were able to get some rest. Do you think you would choose to take a nap on a chilly Michigan morning on a bed of

wood chips? Probably not, but that is exactly where one of our toddlers fell asleep this week. He never even woke up after being carried back to his room, hat and coat removed, and noise throughout the hallway. Wouldn't it be great to be able to fall asleep like that whenever you were tired. Unfortunately, you have to be under 3 or over 75 for this to be acceptable! We are always looking for additional stories to share. Please click here to send us your story to be published in the Panther Press. News & Notes Extra Theme Shirts Av a ilab le : We have extra short sleeve theme shirts available to purchase in the office for $11. We have one of each of these sizes: YM, YL, AS, AM. Reminder WIW: Don't forget that this Wednesday is Wear It Wednesday (everyone is encouraged to wear their theme shirts). Thrivent $250 Action Te ams: If you are a member of Thrivent and interested in using one of your two Action Team $250 gift cards, we have some opportunities where it could be useful in our school. Co n ta ct Mr. Eric Hagenow if you are interested or if you want to know more. Attachment: Your student will be bringing t h e November calendar and menu home today. Did You Know: If you are over 70½ that you have a unique opportunity to make a difference with the St. Peter Lutheran School Endowment Fund? The Tax Reform Act of 2017 and the rules within the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your retirement funds provide a unique way for you to give a charitable gift and potentially reduce your taxable income. As a retiree, you have to withdraw your RMD each year and it is taxable to you as income. Congress has allowed an exception if you make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to a 501 c 3 organization like the St. Peter Lutheran Church Endowment Fund. The amount of the QCD up to $100,000 a year can be given to the charity and is not included as taxable income to you. The added benefit of this type of giving is that with the new standard deduction amounts on your 1040 tax return being over $24,000 for a married filing jointly, most people will not be able to itemize their charitable giving. The QCD idea allows you to still make the gift and not have the income reported as taxable amounts to you. This will give you a great benefit and your generosity will help the St. Peter Lutheran School Endowment Fund continue to grow and fulfill its mission of support to St. Peter. Athletics Parent Sign Up: All parents of basketball players are asked to sign up to help at our home games in November and December. On most nights the girls team will play first, followed by our 2nd-4th grade intramural game. Click here to sign up. PTL Information 2018 Turkey Trot: Our Annual 5K/10K Run/Walk is next Saturday, November 3, right here at St. Peter. Click here to register. All proceeds for this event will go towards our fund raising for purchasing new playground equipment. ATTACHMENT LINKS Monthly Calendars 2018-2019 School Calendar 2018-2019 Athletic Calendar
