Soprano Catherine Fitch Bartlett and Emily Logan present a summer evening of Art Song and solo piano music on Thursday, August 2 nd at 7:30pm at Mount Royal UC. This concert will be a collection of the music that Emily presented as part of her doctoral work at UBC this past year. The tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Proceeds will be used to help create and fund a Performance Wellness Workshop for NB music students and teachers of the New Brunswick Registered Music Teachers' Association. Helios Vocal Ensemble returns to Mount Royal as they tour the Maritimes this September with Madrigal Mystery Tour, a passionate musical journey through Renaissance Europe. This group of highly trained singers (which includes Moncton native Andrew Pickett) bring their exceptional sound to marvellous inventions from England, France, Italy and Spain, by composers including Morley, Monteverdi, and Lassus. The concert will be at Mount Royal United Church on Sunday, September 9 at 2 pm. Admission is by donation. The Pastoral Care committee will next meet on Sept 17 th at noon. If you are interested in helping with this committee, please join us. Do you have difficulty hearing the services? There are hearing devices available at the back of the sanctuary for your use. There are alcohol swabs available to clean the earpieces before use. Just ask an usher for assistance. UCW News - Our UCW is having an update. Because of lower numbers, the Hubbard Unit met for their last meeting in June with the decision to join the Bremner Unit. In September there will be one Unit to carry on with our work here at Mount Royal. We will gather in the Board Room at 11:30 on Tuesday, September 11. This is a perfect time for new members to come along, bring your lunch, enjoy our fellowship time, devotions and brief program. UCW Candlelight Communion Service - This year's service will be on Wednesday, December 5. The theme is ''Faces of Joy" and the following dates are set for planning: September 18, Tuesday at 11:00 October 16, Tuesday at 11:00, November 20, Tuesday at 11:00 Please let us know if you are able to help in any way.
The UCW continues to collect: Postage stamps for Oxfam Canada. The border of the stamps should be trimmed to ¼. eye glasses for distribution to Third world countries. Aluminum pop can closure tabs You may drop any of these items in the containers at the entrance of the Bessborough door. Thank you for helping with these endeavours. No Scents make good sense. If you have e-mail and would like to receive notices regarding cancellations and other items of interest, please put your name and e-mail address on a piece of paper in the collection plate. Thank you. Thanks to a generous donation we have a transport wheelchair, rollator and walker in the church. These will be stored at the back of the sanctuary and are there should the need arise for anyone experiencing mobility issues during services or activities at the church. We continue to support ReConnect. Following their reorganization, they will provide a more detailed list of required items. From UCW - A Special Thank You to all those who have contributed and continue to support the coffee and conversation gatherings after the Sunday service. Your gifts of food items as well as coffee and tea are very much appreciated. We welcome your help at any time and food items do not need to be home baked, healthy choices are always a plus. We hope that this fellowship time continues to be part of the warmth and friendliness shown to visitors and newcomers, Mount Royal folks, young and not so young. Thank you! Please be advised that we now have the technology to permit the screen operators to record and post on the church website, any regular or special services held in the sanctuary. If anyone would like to have a copy of an upcoming service on a disk, they should contact the office.
