Gathering God calls us together to offer praise, acknowledge sin, and celebrate our adoption as forgiven children. Prelude Theme from Piano Sonata No. 11 W. A. Mozart, music Allegro from the Royal Water Music G. F. Handel, music Introit Bless the Lord, My Soul Hymn 544 At the sign you may stand. Hymn indicates the red pew hymnal Glory to God. Bold text is read or sung in unison. Bless the Lord, my soul, and bless God s holy name. Bless the Lord, my soul, who leads me into life. Call to Worship Psalm 148 : 1, 7, 12 I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever. Come by here, my Lord, come by here. With my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. Come by here, my Lord, come by here. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. Come by here, my Lord, come by here. Let us worship the living and loving God. Opening Hymn All People That on Earth Do Dwell Hymn 385 Prayer of Confession O Holy God, as generations and generations before us, you have created us to live as a people of light and love. Yet, we confess we live in the shadows of our humanity. We find it hard to be truthful and honest with you, with one another, and with ourselves. O God, forgive us and have mercy upon us. In the silence of these moments we pray to you the Psalmist s words: Search me and know my heart, test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness Friends in Christ, hear and believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Response of Praise Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing Hymn 475 Verse 1 Come, thou Fount of every blessing; tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above; praise the mount! I m fixed upon it, mount of God s unchanging love! Words of Welcome Proclaiming the Word We encounter the Word in speech and song as we interpret and expound scripture. Time with Children Children, age two to rising grade two, may leave for Summer Church School classes. Teachers and ushers can assist in finding classrooms. Prayer for Illumination O Lord our God, your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Give us grace to receive your truth in faith and love, that we may be obedient to your will and live always for your glory; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen. First Scripture Lesson Romans 12 : 9 21 pg 162

Psalm The Steadfast Love of the Lord Hymn 59 Second Scripture Lesson Joshua 5 : 10 12 pg 197 Sermon When the Manna Stops David A. Davis Thanksgiving We respond by presenting our offerings, setting the table, lifting prayers, and praising the triune God. Sermon Hymn For the Fruit of All Creation Hymn 36 Affirmation of Faith I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Apostles Creed Offertory Bought with a Price Natalie Sleeth You were blessed by the Word, born of the Spirit, called by the Power divine. You were led be the light, washed with the water, marked with a sacred sign. You are part of the chosen people, you are children of Abraham. You were bought with a price, spared by a sorrow, saved by the blood of the Lamb! So what, then, does God require of you? Nothing in truth you cannot do: this, this alone your whole life through, but to walk in the way of the Lord!

You were claimed by a cross, graced by a glory, loved by the Lord on high. You were fed by the faith, filled from the fountain, destined to testify! You are part of the chosen people, you are children of Abraham. You were bought with a price, spared by a sorrow, saved by the blood of the Lamb! Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow praise God all creatures here below, praise God above, ye heav nly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
