This true story happened at a wedding that Jesus and His mom, Mary, had been invited to. After the wedding was over, there was a big party to celebrate the bride and groom getting married. The party was going great and everyone was having a good time until Jesus mom realized that all of the super fancy party drink was gone and the people were still thirsty. Oh, no! What would you do if you were at a party and they ran out of juice boxes? What if you had lots of pizza to eat, but nothing to drink? You d be sooooo thirsty, wouldn t you? Well, that s what happened to these people. They were at this beautiful wedding party with nothing to drink. What were they going to do? Jesus mother went to Jesus and asked Him to help. She knew Jesus is God s Son and [Bottom Line] Jesus can do anything. And because His mother asked Him to do it, Jesus said He would help. Jesus saw some big jars close by. There were six of them. Can you count to six with me? CHILDREN and LEADER: One, two, three, four, five six. LEADER: Yep, six big jars. We ve learned by now that whenever Jesus is around, really amazing things happen. What do you think Jesus did with the six jars? (Pause.) The Bible says Jesus told some people to fill all six jars up with water like my pitcher here. (pull out pitcher of water) After all the jars were filled with water, Jesus told the people to dip a cup into the jar and bring a drink to the person in charge of the party. Now this is when the amazing thing happened. The person dipped the cup into the plain water, just like Jesus told him to do. Then, as he brought the plain water out of the jug, something had changed. (Pour the packet of drink mix into the bowl of water and stir.) The plain water had turned into a super fancy party drink! The person took the cup of the drink to the man in charge for him to taste and make sure it was okay. When the person in charge took a drink, he said it was the most delicious drink he had ever had. Wow! Jesus had turned the water into super fancy party drink! And it was the best kind of super fancy party drink! But Jesus didn t need a powder mix like I used. No way! Jesus just did it, because [Bottom Line] Jesus can do anything! Who can do anything? Curriculum Materials for 3- through 5-year-olds 2017 The rethink Group, Inc. CHILDREN and LEADER: [Bottom Line] Jesus can do anything! LEADER: You got it! [Bottom Line] Jesus can do anything, because Jesus is God s Son, and with God ALL things are possible. (Pick up your Bible and hold it up for the children to see.) That s the truth, friends. You better believe it! Let s close our eyes and pray. Prayer LEADER: Heavenly Father, we have had an awesome time learning about how Jesus can do anything. Thank You for teaching us these true stories. I pray we never forget them. Help us to love Jesus and follow Him. He truly is the best friend we could ever have. We love You. In Jesus name, amen. Thanks for being such great listeners. Have fun in your small group! Groups: Creating a Safe Place to Connect (Small Groups, 15 minutes) Create a safe place to connect through activities that are written to reach every learning style while reinforcing the Bottom Line that was introduced during the Bible Story and applying it to real life experiences. In addition, these activities provide preschoolers with an opportunity to build relationships with their Small Group Leader. You may want to lead one activity at a time or offer two activities at once and allow half the kids to participate in each. Then switch groups and repeat the activities. 1. After the Activity: Ask the children to gather their papers and bring them to you. Before the Activity: This month we ve been learning: With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. During the Activity: Do you see these jugs on the floor? (Point.) I want you to jump on the color I call out and say the verse with me. Ready? Jump to the blue jug. With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. Awesome. Now jump to the purple/red jug. With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. After the Activity: That was super fun jumping from jug to jug! Jesus did something amazing at the wedding that day. But that s not surprising, because we know that [Bottom Line] Jesus can do anything. Who can do anything? [Bottom Line] Jesus can do anything! 2.
