The first day of spring and fall each year marks the point when the length of days and nights are approximately equal everywhere on Earth. This year it happened at 6:45 p.m. on March 20th. Palm Sunday March 29th Our children will wave palms as we enter into worship. And our older youth will be leading other activities: from dancing to music to reading to serving. Maundy Thursday - Join us on Holy Thursday, April 2 nd, at 6:30 pm for a quiet time of reflection as we prepare for the cross. Easter Breakfast April 5th There will be no Sunday School classes on Easter. Instead, come join us at 8:45 a.m. for Easter Breakfast. A variety of pastries, breads, sausage, and fruit will be served. 8:45 am Breakfast 9:15 am Egg Hunt 10:00 am Worship, Enter into praise for all that God has given and for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. In ancient China, tradition holds that on the day of the lunar New Year, a person can balance an egg on the head of pin. In America we adopted that practice, only we attempt to do it on the first day of Spring. On that day -- as we gaze at that fragile egg teetering between miracle and mayhem -- we pride ourselves in believing that we have helped the world be in perfect balance that invisible forces don t have their strange effect on the internal parts of creation. Despite popular belief, though, you can actually balance an egg on its end any day of the year. It has nothing to do with the gravitational pull of the sun or the moon. Sometimes we can make things sort of difficult. Or at least I can. I can spend way too much time and energy on things that shouldn t have any pull on my life. I worry about invisible things like popularity and success. I worry about the markings of time like my To Do List and calendar. And then I try to balance it all in the belief that I can control what God has already made perfect. This Easter, we will be looking at the surprising egg. Why does Easter have ancient traditions that include eggs? Come and hear the joy of Easter at our worship service. And remember that Easter is more than just a day to dye for. Blessings, Pastor Sue 29043 T Avenue P.O. Box 278 Phone: 515-987-4937 www.waukeechristianchurch@msn.com WaukeeChristianChurch.com
