Cong: It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it? Lead: Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it? Cong: No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. Lead: This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live Together: and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. January 10, 2016, Philippians 4:4-9 Think On These Things Lead: Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Cong: Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Lead: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Cong: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Lead: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Vernon Park Church of God January 17, 2016, Numbers 6:22-27 The Priestly Blessing Lead: The Lord said to Moses, Cong: Tell Aaron and his sons, This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: Lead: The Lord bless you and keep you; Cong: the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; Lead: the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Together: So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them. January 24, 2016, Deuteronomy 28:1-8 "Blessing For Obedience" Lead: If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: Cong: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. Lead: The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock - the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Cong: Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. Lead: The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. Together: The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. Page 4
Vernon Park Church of God January 31, 2016, Philippians 3:10-16 Looking Forward Lead: I want to know Christ yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, Cong: and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Lead: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Cong: Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, Lead: I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Together: All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
