Nativity Star Fall 2018 July, 2018 Mission Statement To know, love and serve God as a welcoming Community. Vision Statement We invite all into a deeper relationship with God, our Creator, and Jesus Christ, our brother, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Inside this issue: 2. Faith Formation 3. Feed My Starving Children 4. Picnic 5. Single Seniors 6. 2nd Friday for Seniors 7. Message Board 8. Calendar Dear Friends, With my first year in the books so to speak, and feeling at home, Nativity continues to be a source of blessings. As we look to the year ahead and beyond, as a parish and diocese, we are excited about the wonderful activities happening in the parish and the surrounding community. We plan to focus on the call to Missionary Discipleship. As a parish, we are asked to bring the love of Jesus Christ to every soul in our Mission Field. Our mission field is the community directly surrounding our parish. It s not just about us anymore. It s about others in the whole community! We are taking a hard look at how we can infuse the community with the love of Jesus. We want to reach everyone, whether they go to church every week or haven t stepped inside a church in years. Missionary Discipleship calls us to lead all people to the Kingdom of God! Our parish is now in the process of Parish Mission Planning, which calls for our parish discipleship to evangelize and collaborate with Catholic schools and community agencies, our parish mission field. The plan will allow us to have a deeper impact in our community, parish, and schools; shifting from an inward to an outward focused way of serving. Each of the 157 parishes in the Diocese of Green Bay will develop a mission plan based on the make-up of its unique mission field. We need to be more aware of who and what is around us; then investigate how we might have an impact. Consider the unique mission field surrounding Nativity Parish: an international airport, an NFL team stadium, a major shopping mall and a national railroad museum, in addition to all who call it home. Think of all the people that flow in and out of our mission field every day. We have a tremendous opportunity to make an impact. And as a Catholic church, we are located right in the middle of it all! WOW! This is truly an exciting time for us. I am grateful for your continuing support and dedication to our parish and our shared goals. Know of my prayers for you each day. I wish you every blessing along the way. Peace, Fr. Mike Ingold

News Flash--There is Senior Singles Group at Nativity Parish! Single Seniors is an organization which helps single separated, never married and divorced women and men of all denominations meet other singles through social events. The primary mission of Nativity Seniors Singles is to provide social and spiritual support which is accomplished through regularly scheduled activities that foster friendships within the senior single community. I approached Judy Schroeder regarding starting a Senior Singles group at Nativity Parish in July, 2017. She knew that it would be a challenge to get it organized. Organizing a Christian Singles ministry can be both rewarding and fun. There is more that goes into it than just conducting meetings. She prayed about it and told me that she would try to get a Senior Singles group organized with my support and prayers. Notices were put in the Nativity bulletin and other Church bulletins to get a core group of people that would plan our Senior Singles Activities. The first meeting was September 6, 2017, with more than twenty women attending. Their needs showed that we had to go forward. Judy Schroeder and Terri Hoehne are co-chairs. Our Core Group includes: Terri Hoehne, Marge Bertolli, Addie Matheys, Judy Maronek, Phyllis Landry, Delores Augustian, Katie Steinman and Judy Schroeder. Our first event was on October 29, 2017--Voice of Hope Concert at Nativity Parish. The first Sunday of each month there is Bingo or Bunco from 1-4pm in Bona Hall, which is open to ALL, not only singles. The Senior Singles took Bunco over from Family Life Ministry. The core group plans an activity once a month, usually on Sunday, the loneliest day for them. Some one-day bus trips are planned through a travel company and others are through Nativity. The mailing list includes over 200 men and women, but more people are welcome. We encourage Senior Singles to watch Nativity bulletins as well as other church bulletins and the Compass for information and upcoming events. Suggestions are needed for activities that appeal to both men and women. Can you help us out? Questions and suggestions, call Judy at 499-3248 or Nativity Parish 499-5156.
