Page 2 of 5 DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES STRATEGY AND STAFFING Vision Through this departmental strategy and staffing model, we envision a team that equips the people of God, new and renewed, to embody and articulate their faith. Strategic Emphases Discipleship Ministries will focus in three main areas: 1) make and grow disciples; 2) form and develop leaders; 3) transform communities. Avenues for Ministry Discipleship Ministries will focus on three avenues; 1) Relationships- Staff will cultivate ongoing relationships with pastors, district executives, and congregational leaders through coaching, consulting, and workshops; 2) Resources- Staff will continue to develop printed and digital resources related to discipleship, organizational vitality, and community development. These materials will support the work of director level staff and contractors as they provide local resource leadership at district conferences, congregational and district retreats, and denomination wide conferences; 3) Events- Discipleship Ministries will continue to coordinate events and conferences that have become a significant aspect of denominational programing, including Youth and Young Adult events, National Older Adult Conference, and the Church Planting Conference. These events, along with Annual Conference and district conferences, will provide an opportunity for staff to develop and maintain relationships and networks, as well as showcase the expertise and resources available through the ministry area.

Page 3 of 5 Staffing Discipleship Ministries will include director level staff, administrative staff, independent contractors, and volunteer teams. This staffing structure is intended to expand the reach of Discipleship Ministries and maintain the current level of event programing while increasing the amount of time for director level staff to develop relationships and resources. Thus, more director level staff time will be focused on direct support to districts, congregations, and leaders. 1) Director staff will focus on leadership, intercultural competencies, youth and young adult ministries, and formation. 2) Hourly staff will focus on administration and logistics. 3) Contractors will focus on various aspects of resourcing such as family ministries, evangelism, deacon ministries, and worship. 4) Volunteer teams tasked with advisory functions (intercultural ministries and church planting), conference programing (National Youth Conference, National Junior High Conference, Young Adult Conference, and National Older Adult Conference), and network coordination (Spiritual Directors).
