Greetings, I can not believe it s August already! We have a lot going on too! School is right around the corner and if you have not heard yet, August 26th is going to be a big Sunday for us. In the morning we are going to cast some vision into our future here at FCC. I am so excited to be looking forward with all of you. We will celebrate our transition team both past and present and the commitment they have fulfilled during our time of transition. We will celebrate as we reveal a new mission statement for FCC. We will celebrate as we announce new apprentice elders. As many of you know 2 men have agreed to accept the position of apprentice elder and 2 more are trying to discern this possibility. Please continue to pray for the ongoing journey for our leadership team. We will have a few more exciting items for August 26th, so please make sure to be here for the 8:00 am or 10:30 am service. The evening of the 26th we will have a fall-kickoff. There is going to be smoked meat and lots of games and fun for the evening, so please make sure to invite friends and join us from 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm that night. The other big realization is our kickoff of The Story is so soon! September 9th we will be launching a sermon series which will carry us all the way from September of 2018 - May of 2019. With the increasing number of people not knowing what God has to say about life and this world; we are taking a stand and saying we believe in the Word of God. We are going to study the Bible from beginning to end, in less than a year. God s Bible is the most precious tool He has given us for guiding our lives and making decisions which honor Him. We want to know what God has to say. Many of us can feel overwhelmed in parts of the Bible or unsure of where or how to start reading. We can quickly feel discouraged or inadequate. Our goal is to help it be known that the Bible is full of treasures for us and relevant for life today in a world that looks radically different from the times which Jesus and the disciples lived. The Story is a companion to reading the Bible and reads like a novel to help us understand God s word. We have copies of The Story available for $5 and we want to encourage you to purchase one for yourself and for a friend or family member as an invitation to church here at FCC. This is a great companion for moving through major stories and themes throughout God s Word. We also are going to have Bible reading plans available to help us track where we journey together this year. At FCC we care about knowing God s word so we can live God s word. We want to be a church that truly loves and lives like Jesus. Blessings, les We want to be a church that truly loves and lives like Jesus. AUGUST 2018, Vol. 58 2

It is a display of ministry on a most practical level of sacrikice of both time and energy that is hidden from the elements of glory. Everyone had such joy and cooperation in the midst of accomplishing and meeting a need. Thank you for your kindness and excellence in blessing me in this way. The Story Beginning September 9th, we will start a new study for the next several months. God goes to great lengths to rescue lost and hurting people. That is what The Story is all about the story of the Bible, God s great love affair with humanity. The Story is condensed into 31 accessible chapters. There are no verse references, and Scripture segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative. The Story sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation. Using the clear, accessible text of the NIV Bible, it allows the stories, poems, and teachings of the Bible to read like a novel. For those intimidated or overwhelmed by the unabridged Bible, The Story helps people understand God s Word more fully and engage with it more easily. We hope that you will take the opportunity to study God s Word more closely. Invite a neighbor, friend or co- worker to join you as we begin our study series in September. Small groups and Sunday school classes will also be available for further study. Hardback copies of The Story are available in the church foyer for $5.00 each. Pick up one for your family and one to give as an invitation to join us as we study together! AUGUST 2018, Vol. 58 4
