You can place the Prayer Request cards in the offering plates later in the service.) Bringing Our Pledges to Support God s Work through Colonial Church (As we sing our Consecration Hymn, come forward to the baskets in the front of the sanctuary and place your pledge card in the basket. If you have made your pledge online or already sent it in no worries! There are cards in each of the pews for you to bring forward.) Consecration Hymn #562 Take My Gifts Blessing of the Pledges Gracious and loving God, giver of all that is good and true and beautiful and life giving, these cards represent our sweat. They represent our lives. They represent our dreams. The pledges which we make on them are but tokens of the awesome gifts that have been given to us and they are pledged in thanksgiving for all we have received, for all we have been inspired to be, for all we are challenged to become, in this place. May they be the first fruits of all we have and not what we have left over, so that we may live out as closely as possible how you give to us. May we see them as our offering to you, sacred, holy, yet earthy, filled with possibilities.

May we hold this image in our hearts and minds so as we watch our offerings each week come to your table, we can see our very selves being part of this offering, it is us on the table, living sacrifices to you. Amen. (written by Rev. Greg Rickel) * Song of Praise Gloria #759 adapted Glory to the Creator, and to the Christ, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. World without end. Amen. Amen. * Sharing God s Welcome (Greet everyone in the hope of peace and friendship.) Children s Conversation (Children of all ages are welcome to come forward to the chancel steps. Following the Conversation, children are welcome to remain to worship or to participate in our Sunday School.) This little light of mine, I m gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I m gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. 2 We Hear a Word from God A Word in Music Sanctus Gounod From St. Cecilia Mass Soprano, Laurel Weir A Word Proclaimed Pastor Aaron Roberts Multiplication is God s Favorite Math Matthew 15:32 38 Jesus called his disciples and said, "I feel sorry for the crowd because they have been with me for three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away hungry for fear they won't have enough strength to travel." His disciples replied, "Where are we going to get enough food in this wilderness to satisfy such a big crowd?" Jesus said, "How much bread do you have?" They responded, "Seven loaves and a few fish." He told the crowd to sit on the ground. He took the seven loaves of bread and the fish. After he gave thanks, he broke them into

pieces and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. Everyone ate until they were full. The disciples collected seven baskets full of leftovers. Four thousand men ate, plus women and children. God is at the Center Matthew 22:36 40 [A lawyer asked Jesus, ] "Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?" He replied, " You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands." 3 We Respond with Thanksgiving and Prayer * Hymn #12 I Sing the Mighty Power of God Call to Offering and Offertory Before Thy Throne I Will Appear Dupre * Doxology (#780 adapted; tune Old Hundredth) Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, you heavenly host: Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Amen. * Prayer of Dedication God, we lift up these offerings as a sign of our gratitude for your love and care. We pledge ourselves time, talent, and treasure. We dedicate our lives to you and seek to grow in faithfulness to your Word. Amen.

Time of Prayer Prayers of the People Believing that each joy and/or concern expressed is indeed a prayer, after each expression, the Pastor will say: Lord, in your mercy. And the people may respond: Hear our prayer. 4 Praying in Silence Our Lord s Prayer ( Our Father is the traditional way this prayer begins. You are invited to use whatever name for God you find most meaningful (Father, Mother, Creator, God, etc.). These names for God create a beautiful chorus.) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us, not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. We Depart to Serve * Hymn #451 Be Thou My Vision (Original lyrics on screens) * Renew Our Covenant (Turn towards the center aisle as we bless one another with the promise of our covenant.) We covenant with the Lord and with one another and do bind ourselves in the presence of God to walk together in Christian Love. We seek to worship God in spirit and in truth and to love our neighbors as ourselves. With God s help we will honor Colonial Church in our conduct, support its program, and extend the influence of Christ throughout the world.

6 Our 10:00am Thursday morning Bible Study is doing something new this fall. We are going to do sessions with the Kerygma Discovering the Bible curriculum. Even if you cannot make the sessions, we re going to put the readings in our weekly study guide. If you would like to take part in the study, simply come on Thursdays or signup for the group via infellowship from the church website. Keep the simple point in mind: our primary purpose is not simply learning information about the Bible. It is hearing God speak.
