YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU Zech 9:9 9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. NKJV Matt 21:1-8 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them." 4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: 5 "Tell the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.'" 6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. NKJV I. Zech 9:9 gave a prophesy of what took place in Matt 21 A. Behold your King is coming to you 1. The bible declares this of Jesus Christ: a. Rev 17:14 He is Lord of lords and King of kings; b. Rev 19:16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. 1

B. Your King is coming to you 1. understand that this verse spoke of Jesus entering into Jerusalem on a colt a little over two thousand years ago a. We also understand that there is coming a day when Jesus will return again from heaven to the earth (1) Acts 1:9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." 2. But..I believe that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Heb 13:8 a. and Our King desires to come to us today: (1) corporately as a church (2) as well as personally (a) Jesus desires to come to us / manifest Himself to us through the Presence and Power of the Holy Spirit II. Matt 21 reveals to us spiritual keys that will cause Our King To come to us each day of our life & in every situation: A. Key #1 OBEDIENCE Matt 21:3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them." NKJV 1. What is your response when the Holy Spirit says to you: a. THE LORD HAS NEED OF THEM (1) When The Holy Spirit says: give me what you possess (2) or better yet: I have need of you (a) give me your life / become Born Again (b) or if a Christian: give me your time, fits & talents 2

2. We see another act of obedience that enabled King Jesus to come to His people in: a. Matt 21:6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. (1) The disciple obeyed the words of Jesus and stepped out in Faith in doing what he told them to do b. Are we willing to step out in that same type of faith and obedience when King Jesus speaks to us through: (1) The voice of the Holy Spirit (2) and / or The Word of God c. OBEDIENCE is the first key in causing King Jesus to come and manifest Himself to us: II. PRAISE is the second key in causing King Jesus to come and manifest Himself to us: A. As Jesus rode on the back of this donkey and mule, not the actions of the people who were receiving Him: 1. Matt 21:9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' Hosanna in the highest!" B. These people were not acting all pious and religious 1. The CRIED OUT a. Something powerful is released in the spirit realm when God s people cry out unto Him: (1). it gets God s attention (2) it attracts God s presence (3) it releases God s power (a) Ps 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 3

(b) Ps 57:2-3 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. 3 He shall send from heaven and save me; 2. If we will just throw aside our foolish pride and Cry Out to The Lord. Our King will come and manifest Himself to you a. Mark 10:46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he Began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" 49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you." 50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. 51 So Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight." 52 Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. (1) Blind Bartimaeus got tired of Jesus passing him by, and going on in life with his needs un met (2) So he began to cry out.and the people got all religious And tried to quiet him down (a) But: He cried out all the more (3) vs 49 tells us that his cry stopped Jesus in His tracks. (1) So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called (4) vs 50 it tells us that Bartimaeus threw off his garment (a) He threw off his old identity (b) he threw off his beggars garment (4) and Bartimaeus received his sight / received his miracle 4

(5) Bartimaeus did not stop with just receiving His miracle it goes on to tell us: (a) he followed Jesus down the road (1) Bartimaeus made a commitment to follow Jesus down the road of life 3. Why don t we see people at our altars today: a. losing their pride & just coming to the altar & crying out to J Jesus b. throwing away the garment of their old identity, need, or sin c. and not stop crying out & not quiet down until: (1) JESUS STOPS for you like He did blind Bartimaeus and manifests Himself to you.touching your / meeting your need 4. I declare to you that Jesus is the same yesterday, today & Forever..and if we would just cry out to The King: a. and according to Isa 35:4 Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you." C. In Matt 21:9 when these people cried out they said: "Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' Hosanna in the highest!" 1. Def Hosanna: an exclamation of adoration 2. Def Blessing: fine speaking, to thank a. Praise, exclamations of adoration: Hosanna / Blessing: to thank, fine speaking: causes our King to come to us (1) Ps 50:23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. (2) Ps 22:3 But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. (a) Def Enthroned: to sit down, to dwell, to marry (1) if we would just take the time to praise Our King. He would come / manifest Himself to us 5

3. Praise should be second nature to every Born Again Christian: a. Heb 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. (1) Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (a) NOTE: I will come in to him and will sup with him (1) Our King Jesus desires to some into our hearts & lives And manifest Himself to us in a greater degree (2) Jesus Himself said: I will sup, dine with him / you and Me (3) and PRAISE is the key to the door of our heart that Invites the King in!!!!!! (4) and The Fruit of our lips..praise..is what our King Is wanting to partake of as He sups with us. D. Praise not only ushers in the Presence and Power of King Jesus Praise also will move a city: 1. Matt 21:9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' Hosanna in the highest!" 10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved NIV trans: Matt 21:10 the whole city was stirred a. If we would become the people who would just praise God b. if we would become the church, that would just praise God (1) we could move our city with the Presence of The Lord (2) to the point that our city would ask this question: (a) Matt 21:10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?" (1) Who is this you are Praising (2) Who is this you are worshipping (3) Who s Presence is this that I can since in the city 6
