Pillowcase Dresses and UCC Scarves Blessing During 10 am Worship The Village Churchwomen have been working on these 2 special projects since January. Please join us at 10 am Worship as we bless the fruits of their labor of love. The dresses are headed to Haiti and Fumbelo, and the scarves will become part of a symbolic stand against violence and bullying at the Mass Conference UCC s Annual meeting and the UCC s General Synod this month. Fellowship Hour 11:15 am, Village Common Please join us for coffee and fellowship. Information for visitors is available at the Welcome Table. Providing hospitality today are members from the Church Council. Please take a moment to thank them.

BULLETIN NOTES Village Church to Receive Green Congregation Recognition Village Church will be recognized as a Green Congregation at the Massachusetts Conference UCC Annual meeting on Saturday, June 15. We receive this after having completed the first level of the Mass UCC Green Congregation checklist. This is a result of programs forwarded by the Environmental Ministry team. We join six congregations recognized last year and three additional ones which will be with us this year. There are two additional levels of increasing difficulty which the Ministry, with the help of our congregation, will be addressing in the future. Members of the Environmental Ministry will be at this meeting to receive the recognition on behalf of the church. All are invited to join the Prayer Walking Group! Friday mornings, 9 am We meet in front of the College Club Building on the Wellesley College Campus. We begin by gathering to share prayers of joy and concern and then we pair up to walk around beautiful Lake Waban. This walk takes about an hour. There is also always an option to go for a slower, shorter walk on the paved sidewalks around the campus. If you have questions or would like more information please contact Diane Anderson at diane@wellesleyvillagechurch.org. Village Churchmen Tuesday, June 18, Noon, Village Common The Village Churchmen is a group open to all men of the church, their friends and visitors. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at Noon in Village Common. No reservations are necessary; just come, even if it is a last minute decision. Please bring your own bag lunch. Beverages will be provided. See you there. For further information call Ken Chaulk at 781-237-2594 or kchaulk@verizon.net or Arthur Stock at 781-449-1970 or ajstock@earthlink.net. Usher Teams for September Please consider being an usher, either regular or substitute, starting September 2013. Each Team ushers once every 6 weeks. Substitute ushers fill in when regular usher is unable to do so on a given Sunday. If you enjoy being with people and want to do some wonderful work, join a Team. The duties are not strenuous and the existing team members guide you easily through the responsibilities. We welcome your participation. If you have an interest, please call Roger Regnier to discuss at (781) 235-7205 or email at rogerregnier541@msn.com. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

SAVE - A - DATE School Supply Collection by Village Churchwomen Before we all put school behind us for the summer, we wanted to let you know that we'll be collecting school supplies for Holly Hill School again in conjunction with the Charles Street A.M.E. Church. We realize that starting in July; stores like Staples start to advertise sales on school supplies. Please pick up some extras to store away for the drive that we'll be holding at the end of the summer (for collection on Sunday, September 8). As always, things like notebook paper, spiral notebooks, pencils, erasers, pens and especially backpacks would be greatly appreciated. These children have few resources at their disposal so this would be a great opportunity for us to do something small that would really make a difference. Thank you! Sunday Morning Offering Counters Needed Beginning this fall, in an effort to improve our financial controls, and to follow recommendations made in external review of our church's controls last year, we will be implementing a simple two-person counting of Sunday morning collections after the 10 am Worship service from September through June and after the 9 am Summer Worship services. Two church members will count the cash donations received, as well as listing the number (anonymous/no names) of checks and adding up the totals received in the offering. The donations will then be locked and stored for the church accountant to conduct a second count and deposit on the following business day. As a reminder, your financial contributions to the church can also be made through your on-line banking or checks can mailed directly to the church to the attention of Barbara Kucich. So, this is also a call to all counters! We will be establishing six teams of two people each who will alternate Sundays. The team will spend 30-45 minutes after the 10 am worship service to carry out the counting service for the church as described above. If you are available and interested to serve, please contact Barbara Kucich at 781-235-1988, x18 or at Barbara@wellesleyvillagechurch.org. Environmental Ministry News The Environmental Ministry and Sustainable Wellesley continue to encourage residents and businesses to sign-up for Wellesley's Renewable Energy Program. Each time a local household or business signs up for clean, green electric power it has a BIG impact on CO2 emissions. Residents and businesses have the opportunity to choose where their power comes from, whether it will produce heat-trapping greenhouse gases or come from clean renewable sources. For further information please check the website sustainablewellesley.com or email Wil Breden at wrbreden@aol.com.

What s happening in Church School today? Childcare for Age 2 through Kindergarten will be in the 2/3 Classroom located on the upper floor. The Infant/Toddler Room is open. Students in Kindergarten and younger should be met by their parents at their classrooms at the conclusion of Worship.
