It is a part of a conurbation which extends to Poole to the west and Christchurch to the east of the town. There are 7 miles of sandy beaches and inland the New Forest provides idyllic space for relaxation and recreation. Lansdowne Baptist Church is situated in the Lansdowne area on the east side of the town, five minutes walk from the cliff top. It is located among University Halls of Residence, shops, hotels, businesses and apartment blocks. It serves rich and poor, students, those in retirement, holidaymakers and international visitors. Each Wednesday and Saturday over 70 people in need come to be fed at the church and regularly on Fridays students who frequent local nightclubs are welcomed into The Hub, our social area, for tea, toast, and a chat.
THE CHURCH Lansdowne Baptist Church is an independent evangelical, Bible believing church that places a strong emphasis on biblical exposition and gospel preaching. It is affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches and to the Evangelical Alliance. The Church is led by Elders assisted by Department Leaders. The Minister (Team Leader) is recognised as first among equals and each Elder has responsibilities according to their gifting. THE CHURCH S VISION Lansdowne Baptist Church is a community of people called to - Worship and delight in God now and eternally Proclaim Christ making disciples locally and globally until he returns. The Values and Goals of the church are set out in the introduction to its Ministry Plan. The Ministry Plan is a comprehensive approach to the review and renewal of every aspect of church life over the five year period 2011-2016 and includes a timetable for the provision of new or refurbished church premises.
