United Methodist Men s meeting The United Methodist Men met on Saturday, October 6, 2018 for their monthly meeting. Marv Chickering was the guest speaker who gave a presentation on the Algona Nativity Scene. There were 12 people in attendance. November/December 2018 issues of Upper Room are now available in the church library for you to pick up at your convenience. Spiritual Growth in Ida Grove October 22nd Call Virginia by Wednesday, Oct. 17 if interested in attending. Lunch is $8.00 Rachel Circle will meet this Thursday, Oct. 18th @ 9:15 a.m. in the Wesley Room. Youth Life Lines (& parents) Please get your completed Life Line forms to Deb Spanier. Deadline to turn them in is Sunday, October 21st. In order for this program to work smoothly, youth participating in the Life Line Program are to be in attendance each week to get cards, etc. No one else will be delivering the cards to you outside of Sunday School. Also, Adult Life Lines like to get notes too! Please be sure that you are communicating with them by leaving them a note and/or thank you card. We do have FREE cards supplied by our Caring Cards Ministry in the Caring Cards rack in the church narthex that you may use. You may leave your notes & cards by the yellow mailbox on the table in the church narthex or give it to Deb Spanier and she will see to it that your life line gets it.

City of Laurens Trick or Treat Night will be on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 5:00p.m.-7:00 p.m. Please turn on your porch light if you welcome trick or treaters! Serving Cheesy Potatoes INSTEAD of chips!

Our church will be hosting the Laurens Area Community Youth Group for the month of November. If you would like to donate some snacks, drinks or volunteer to be a helper at any of the meetings please contact Angie Christenson at 712-450-0167. Altar flowers this past Sunday were given in loving memory of Lois Brown. Thank you to her family for providing them. Hands of Hope Puppet Troop will be performing for us on Sunday, October 28th during the worship hour @ 10:30 a.m. Please join us! Puppeteers, please be sure to wear your Hands of Hope Puppet Troop shirts! PLEASE NOTE: Our committee needs your help in filling 2-3 buckets, several health kits and school kit bags to be assembled for our Ingathering to be held on November 3, 2018, in Cherokee. A list of needed items are available on the tables in the Fellowship Hall. Anything you can furnish is so appreciated! Thank you The Church Mission Committee

United Methodist Women Bazaar News: Wanted: bakers or crafters willing to provide a special treat of your choice! Make someone happy! The Treat of the Month signup sheet needs to be completed by October 28, 2018. Thanks for participating! Please contact Sarah Winkler if you have any questions. Bread makers & packagers are needed on Friday, November 16, 2018. There is a sign up sheet in the church narthex. The United Methodist Women s Fall Bazaar is November 17, 2018. Mark your calendar! United Methodist Women Bazaar is coming on Saturday, November 17, 2018! Quilting, knitting, crafts of all kinds are needed! Suggestion include knitted scarves, pillow cases, dish towels, dish rags, net scrubbers. Bring enjoyment to someone else with your creativity. Start up those sewing machines and let s hear the knitting needles whizzing away! Even if you are not a member of the UMW, you are more than welcome to contribute. Bazaar Time: Good as New Booth Please bring donations of new or slightly used household items, puzzles, books, toys and etc. NO clothing please. Donations of Christmas items will also be accepted. Battery items should be in workable condition. A table will be set up in the Fellowship Hall. Last date for donations will be November 13th.

We are looking for individuals to provide special music during our worship services. We welcome solos, duets, or trios, vocal or instrumental. If one of your gifts from God is music please share it with us! If you are interested please contact Grace Hertz @ 845-2231 or see Pastor Ed.
