For children in 5K and younger, the activities are held downstairs. For 1 st grade through Youth, the activities are upstairs. Birth to Walking Our nursery is available in Room 9 during Sunday School and all worship services. Sunday School is available for the following ages: First Floor Second Floor Toddlers-Room 7 1 st Grade-Room 1 2 y/o & 3 y/o-room 5 2 nd Grade-Room 5 4 y/o-room 6 3 rd Grade-Room 2 5 y/o (Kindergarten)-Room 8 4 th Grade-Room 4 5 th Grade-Room 6 During the worship services, infants through 4K are welcome to stay in the nursery located in Room 7. They are also welcome to accompany their parents in the sanctuary, if preferred.
Youth Programs Our Youth group is very active both within the church building and outside of it. Sunday School classes are held in the Educational Building-2 nd Floor UMYF-United Methodist Youth Fellowship This group meets every Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Together we have dinner, fellowship, Bible lessons, games & activities. Lyttleton Learning Place (LLP) Since 1987, LLP has been providing a Christian-oriented learning environment to Camden and the surrounding communities. Our goal is to promote positive physical, emotional, spiritual, social and intellectual development in a Christian setting. Our childcare ministry is registered with the Department of Social Services and we can serve up to 100 children. We provide quality childcare for children from 6 weeks old to 5 th Grade. Contact April Kidd or Kathi Hunter at llp@lsumc.net or 425-4874. Safe Sanctuary Guidelines Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church strives to be a safe place for children, youth and adults. With that in mind, we have implemented a Safe Sanctuaries policy that is followed by all teachers and youth leaders. This includes a background check, a two non-related adult rule, hall monitors, open doors and other safety measures. In addition, we have a certified CPR and trained First Aid individual on staff on Sunday mornings. Adult Sunday School Opportunities We offer many opportunities for adults to fellowship together during the Sunday School hour. We encourage you to visit several classes to determine which one is right for you. Discovery (No adult age boundaries) Family Life Center-Room 4 We welcome married couples as well as singles. We come from different denominations and backgrounds. We respect and appreciate that each person has a unique contribution based on his/her experiences and path of Christian growth. The strength of the class is the open exchange of ideas from our diverse perspectives. Trinity (Age: 30-50) Education Building-2 nd Floor This group gathers for discussion, study, fellowship, and outreach projects, designed to meet the needs of families working in and outside the home to provide for children and loved ones. This class strives for a greater understanding of what it means to be a Christian in this complicated world.
Pathfinders (Age: 30 s) Education Building-2 nd Floor This class focuses on life application studies, mission work around the community and social events for members & families. This class is mostly comprised of families with young children. New Horizons (Age: early 40 &50 s) Education Building-2 nd Floor This class studies traditional Bible lessons, applying Christian principles to modern-day life. Members take turns bringing breakfast each Sunday and they enjoy many social events together. Anchor (Age: 30-80) Family Life Center-Room 7 The Anchor members focus on readings in religion, theology, and historical backgrounds of Judaism & Christianity. Bible Explorers (Age: 30-50) Education Building-2 nd Floor Explorers strive to study the Bible and understand God s word and how it applies to our everyday lives. Our studies are led by class members and the occasional guest speaker or series leader. We welcome everyone to our class. Aldersgate (Age: 40-60) Family Life Center-Rooms 9&10 Aldersgate members explore Biblical principles and Christian beliefs and practices, with an emphasis on spiritual growth. Lecture/discussion format. We develop our own material, drawing from books, publications, and articles reflecting a broad range of orthodox Christian thought, with Wesleyan theology and practice as the touchstone. Wesley (Age: 50+) Family Life Center-Room 8 Our class usually studies Adult Lesson Series, but sometimes uses other materials. We try to relate the lessons to contemporary living. Inquirers (Age: 50-75) Family Life Center-Rooms 5&6 Inquirers are very active and engaged Sunday School class, with a focus on missions throughout the year.
Friendship (Age: 60-85) Family Life Center-Rooms 11&12 This is an active group of people that is caring and concerned. We have people that work with every program in and out of the church Habitat, Salkehatchie, WARM, CCM Second Look, Habitat Store, CCM, Free Medical Clinic, Choir, Bible studies, Teachers and most committees. Class Motto: We agree to disagree. College Sunday School Location/Times Change Pastor Meegian Gossard plans lessons & activities for our college students who enjoy coming home. Other Mission Opportunities Activity Club Our senior adults meet monthly for a program and pot luck lunch. They go on outings throughout the year and build up one another s faith through prayer, praise, and fun. Christian Community Ministries Our church supports Christian Community Ministries on a continuing basis. We donate food items needed for their pantry to help the needy in the community. Habitat for Humanity Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church often sponsors a Habitat House in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. Contact them at 432-4333. Sacks of Love Started as a shared vision of the local faith community, the Sacks of Love program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children in Kershaw County at times when other resources are not available by providing them with easy to prepare foods to take home during the weekends or holiday vacation. The program currently provides weekend food for over 430 children in Kershaw County. Salkehatchie Summer Service - Wateree Camp Salkehatchie provides home repair services to people in need in our own community. It meets for one week each summer for work on houses needing repair. UMW - United Methodist Women This is a gathering of women who support social justice initiatives by focusing on state and local missions. UMVIM - United Methodist Volunteers in Mission UMVIM is a mission sending agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. UMVIM exists to promote, encourage, and enable Christians to exemplify Christian Love in Action through short-term mission service at home and abroad. W.A.R.M. Weatherization and Repair Ministry Like Salkehatchie, W.A.R.M. provides home repairs in our community. It is usually done over the last weekend in December.
