Thank you to all of the officers for a great job for the Official Visit. It was awesome standing in the East and seeing all of the beautiful ritual work being done. A BIG THANK YOU to Sister Sherry and Brother John Johnson for preparing the meal and all of the other officers and members who helped make the banquet delicious and successful. Associate Grand Matron Kay Bryden and Associate Grand Patron Lowell McDaniel had a wonderful time at the Official Visit. They enjoyed meeting the officers and attending our meeting. We received our Attainment of the Honor Roll certificate from Sister Kay on behalf of the Worthy Grand Matron Kathy Gerner. Unfortunately, our Family Photo Event had to be canceled due to lack of scheduled photo sessions. We needed 35 for Olan Mills to come and take pictures. We will try again in the spring. On behalf of the Marines from Cherry Point, NC, I thank everyone who donated items to be sent to Iraq. I would also like to thank the Masons of Pawley s Island Lodge for their contribution of items and monetary donations. Last week, I send three large boxes of items to them. There were some special items in the box for them to share for Christmas and New Year s Eve/Day. With the monetary donations from the Masons, I was able to purchase enough phone calling cards for almost all of continued on page 2 Socastee Contacts Sue Cornell, WM 34 Saltwind Loop 357-2119 Sherry Johnson, AM 1036 Vestry Drive 357-9115 Linda Hodges, Conductress 1201 Trent Drive 357-1780 Joyce Elliott, Secretary 9502 Cove Drive Myrtle Beach, SC 29572 449-0659 Hank Hodges, WP 1201 Trent Drive 357-1780 John Johnson, AP 1036 Vestry Drive 357-9115 Naomi Reese, Assoc. The phone cards will be used by those who do not have access to the communications phones and/or whose relatives do not live near their base (the base can patch a call through to local calls no charge). This will give the troops an opportunity to call their family for the holidays. The last box will be sent around January 1. Matt s unit will be coming home at the end of January. Thank you, again, for the support you have shown our troops in Iraq. At our October meeting, we approved the bylaws as printed in the October newsletter. The committee was given the authority to make any grammar, typo, corrections necessary. The committee is in the process of putting together the revisions in the proper format to be submitted to Grand Chapter. Once approval is received, members will receive a copy of the new bylaws. Thank you to the committee for all of your hard work. At our November meeting, we voted to have a Christmas Party on Saturday, December 13, 4 PM, at my home. In addition, we drew names for Secret Santas. Gifts are to be brought to the party and Secret Santas will be revealed. I am supplying the ham and attendees signed up to bring side dishes. If you were not at the meeting and would like to come, please call me (357-2119). At this time of year, we have much to celebrate. I hold in my heart thoughts, prayers, and love for you and your family. Have a glorious Christmas. If you are traveling, be safe and return home safely. Socastee Chapter #301 Page 3 From the Conductress A s we think of Christmas, we are reminded that just as the Star in the East was lighting the way to the birthplace of Jesus, our own Order of the Eastern Star lights the pathway of life by the lessons we learn in our Ritual. May this Christmas season be extra special for you and your loved ones. If you are traveling, please be careful and stay safe. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
