The Federated Messenger November 2018 THREE GREAT DAYS by Pastor Ed Huntley Every year, in the month of November, there are three great days in the United States for all citizens to celebrate. These three days are Election Day, when we vote for those who will serve us, and Veterans Day, when we honor those who have served us, and Thanksgiving Day, when we give thanks to God who has blessed us. Should Christians who are citizens of this nation and heaven celebrate and participate in the activities of all three days? On Election Day, we celebrate our freedom to choose our leaders, which is a privilege that many people in this world do not have. The founders of our democracy gave us this great privilege, some at the cost of their lives. With privilege comes responsibility; we are all responsible to vote. As Christians, we are called to vote prayerfully. The Bible commands Christians to pray for kings and all those in authority, (1 Timothy 2:2) so I urge us all to pray for our leaders on November 6th. Pray for Godly leaders for our nation to be elected, and then vote! On Veterans Day, we celebrate our freedom to live in peace, which again is a privilege that many people on this planet do not enjoy. This privilege e of living in peace has been purchased for us by countlesss men and women who have served this nation in the armed forces, many at the cost of their lives. Romans 13 tells us to honor and respect those who bear the sword. That s what our veterans have done, and we as Christians should honor them. On Thanksgiving Day, we celebrate the goodness of God to our nation. This celebration also takes us back to the early days in our nation s history, when the newly-arrived Pilgrims joined with the Wampanoag Indians to give thanks to God for preserving them through the winter. Knowing that the Scriptures call us always to Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, (Psalm 106:1) Christians can and should participate wholeheartedly in this day. For the future of our nation, for the honoring of our veterans, and for the glory of God, I urge all followers of Jesus to celebrate and participate on these three great days!

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch By Christy Preston Kids Christmas Shop is approaching quickly, and we re up to our eyeballs in preparation for this event December 7-8! This part of WLD Ranch s fundraising is fun for kids and families alike, but our excitement is not just from a weekend filled with people at WLD. Our passion for Kids Christmas Shop is due to the money raised for our financial assistance program, helping children attend summer camp who, without financial assistance, would not otherwise be able to attend. All the work that goes into the Kids Christmas Shop, all the hours spent in preparation and set up and clean up, all the time on our feet scampering around to service the kids who attend that weekend are all worth it when we see the dozens of kids who attend summer camp as a result. For example, in Summer 2018, Trevor* and Keri* attended camp for the first time. Their mother called us prior to camp and thanked us for the opportunity for her kids to attend camp because they had been through a lot the past year and a summer camp experience was just what they needed to help them cope. Due to the circumstances of the difficult year, the family was unable to afford the registration fees. Imagine their gratitude to hear that funds were available from Kids Christmas Shop and other donations to help their children attend summer camp after all! Summer camp made a difference in the lives of these children because of the financial assistance available to them. Raising money through the Kids Christmas Shop, as well as through donations to the financial assistance program, continues to impact the lives of campers and their families year after year! In 2018, WLD Ranch helped 63 campers attend camp through the financial assistance program, none of which would have possible without various donations and hard work at the Kids Christmas Shop to raise the November 2018 needed funds. This year s Kids Christmas Shop is December 7-8, 2018, and all funds raised during this weekend will continue to help kids attend camp during Summer 2019. God blesses us year after year with the funds raised. Spread the word about the upcoming Kids Christmas Shop. If you have any questions about it, please contact me (christy@wldranch.com). We re excited about raising much needed funds for use in Summer 2019. Thank you for partnering with us to reach our community for Christ! *Names have been changed KIDS CHRISTMAS SHOP FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7 4-8 PM SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8 10 AM TO 2 PM Children can purchase gifts for their family, make a craft, enjoy sledding, purchase cookies and hot chocolate. He has hunted in the Arctic, the wilderness areas of Mexico, throughout the forests of Canada, the Yukon, and in many of the 50 states including Alaska. Ray has written many magazine articles and has received several prestigious awards. Ray began to wonder where his shooting ability came from and at the same time reflected on his prosperity. He realized that the Lord had been the one who had been guiding his arrows long before he knew He was. That was the moment he let Jesus into his heart and knew there was no other path to follow here on earth. Come to the Expo to hear great stories about Ray and his experiences. Wild game is needed for the dinner. See Boots Merritt if you can donate.
