LIVING COMMUNION WITH JESUS KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD Gloria Copeland and Kellie Copeland DAY 1 LIVING COMMUNION WITH THE WORD When Jesus was on the earth, He found Himself in the Word of God. As a believer, you can come to know Jesus intimately and understand the Father s good plans for you through the Word of God. STUDY IT I. When you consider the different ways we commune with Jesus, you realize that different parts of the Body of Christ seem to know Him in different ways and with different primary revelations. When the Church comes together, we will know Jesus in a fuller way. a. Knowing God through His Word. b. Knowing God through prayer. c. Knowing God through worship. II. III. Obedience is more than the discipline of the flesh. The more intimately you know Jesus the more obedience becomes a natural response from your time in the Word of God. a. Fall in love with Jesus, and take the toil out of obedience. i. Example: Feelings you can have your feelings hurt without being offended (disobedient). ii. When our feelings feel something doubt, fear, etc. run to Jesus, run to His Word with it. b. The key is staying in Jesus and allowing His Word to speak to you day in and day out. God s Word will take you to another level of intimacy and communion when you go to the Word of God to meet Jesus. a. God s Word is more than a daily Bible reading; it is alive (Hebrews 4:12). b. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free (John 8:32). c. Remember and say this: The Bible is what God is saying to me. It is mine. I can have whatever I see in here.

d. If you know who Jesus is, you can begin to know who you are. And as you know who you are, you begin to more intimately know who Jesus is. e. Don t overcomplicate the Christian walk simply seek first the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33). i. Just one scripture can open the door to everything YOU need in Christ. ii. Little by little, Jesus will consistently supply the needs of your life, as you seek Him. IV. Jesus found Himself in the Word of God. a. Mark 11:15, Jesus knew how God s Temple should look, because He knew it from the Scriptures. i. When Jesus turned over the tables of the moneychangers in the Temple, it was an action inspired by the Temple standard reflected in the Word of God. ii. God s Word was always the standard for Jesus. b. When we look around the church, or our temple (our bodies), can we see what s not godly through the Word of God? Additional scriptures: Mark 11 MAKE IT PERSONAL Have you been struggling with obedience to God? If your thoughts are consumed by the thousands of Bible rules to keep, take a day to let those go. Today, meditate on just one scripture: Matthew 6:33, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Remember, God wants to add His righteousness (through Jesus Christ) to your life above all. So, instead of being harsh on yourself, expect God s grace to be enough for your circumstances today. And when you seek His kingdom first, expect His patience, obedience, life, joy and every other need to be supplied to you as well.

LIVING COMMUNION WITH JESUS KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD Gloria Copeland and Kellie Copeland DAY 2 JESUS IS THE EXPRESSION OF THE FATHER S HEART Jesus is our open door to knowing the Father s heart. The closer you come to Jesus, the more you can receive what is in the Father s heart for you. THE BLESSING is a growing process that comes with obedience and communion with our Father God s heart. STUDY IT I. Faith comes by hearing everything is going to be ALL RIGHT! a. Gloria Copeland met Jesus by reading one scripture Matthew 6:33. It was an open door to God, healing, life, ministry and more. b. Our part is simple; God did the hard part. Our part is to find out God s Word for us, believe it and say it (Mark 11:23). c. What s true for us is true for Jesus. He found Himself in the Word, and so must we. d. God s Word is to help us know God intimately. We shouldn t have just head knowledge, but we should also know His heart. II. III. Ultimately, Jesus is here so we can know the Father s heart! a. To find God, you have to have an open door. b. Jesus will use our physical needs to get us to come to Him, so He can meet our real, spiritual needs. So, don t focus on the need focus on Jesus. i. In Mark 11:14, Jesus answered the tree, because it spoke to Him. He answered back to the circumstance. ii. When you read deeper into knowing Jesus, you see more than a rule. c. In Mark 11, Jesus was having a teaching moment at the fig tree. Jesus is always here to teach us. When you read God s Word with a desire to know Jesus, you ll get more out of it. a. After Jesus bore the curse, He can now be delivered as the WORD to us.

b. Jesus took ALL the curse (Deuteronomy 28) for you. Now it s up to you to find out how to receive the Word (Jesus) into your life. Will you let Him set you free and put His Word to work in your life? c. Find out what the Word says, agree with it, and take it. d. Take your mind off the struggle of God s rules, and get your eyes on how much the Father loves you and wants you to be BLESSED. e. Real obedience comes from communion with God, and THE BLESSING is the result of obedience. f. Jesus bore the WHOLE curse in His body for us. He made us free. IV. This is a growing process of grace, to be taken one day at a time. From where you are today, you ll grow into what God has for you. a. God expects you to start at the beginning, not where someone else is. b. Don t judge yourself or someone else by where anyone else is. V. Have faith in God. It s that simple. a. When we say God s words, He does the work. Mark 11:24 say it and believe it. b. The key is in doing what Jesus said to do Have faith in God. How? By putting the Word of God in your eyes, ears and heart. Additional scriptures: Genesis 1-3 MAKE IT PERSONAL Is there a mountain (circumstance) in your life that needs to be spoken to? Don t go another day without speaking to it from the Word of God (just as Jesus answered the fig tree). Find five scriptures that pertain to the circumstance or problem you are dealing with. Now, write the scriptures down, and speak to that problem from God s Word. When you repeat what God s Word says, and believe it, God can always get in agreement with your prayers. Remember, as you answer the circumstance back, that God said those words first. What power you have to repeat the very words of God!

LIVING COMMUNION WITH JESUS KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD Gloria Copeland and Kellie Copeland DAY 3 RELATIONSHIP IS THE DIFFERENCE When you stay in communion with Jesus, His love becomes the fulfillment of the law in your life. In fact, Jesus teachings of the Beatitudes go beyond the law to give us a plan that can be accomplished through His help, power and guidance. In the Beatitudes, Jesus laid out a growth chart for you as a believer. STUDY IT I. Have faith in God. It will happen, can fix your whole life. a. When you know Jesus in various areas of your life, God can begin working in those areas (Examples: debt, healing). b. Everything works with obedience. Open your life up to His instructions in the Word, and He will fix the problems in your life. II. III. There are so many layers of knowing God you can always be introduced to newer and more layers of Jesus (1 Peter 2:2). a. God expects you to start where you are today. b. We aren t just finding out things to know we are meeting Jesus and growing (through a glass darkly). The darkness is continually clearing up, so we can see Jesus (1 Corinthians 13:12). i. The glass is not a window it s a mirror, because we are to look at His Word like a mirror. ii. We can look into the mirror of the Word and know so much more. As Jesus is unveiled, we see more clearly. We see ourselves through the mirror, and we look like Jesus. He s unveiling Himself in us. Matthew 5:1-12, the Beatitudes are a growth chart. a. God blesses the poor in spirit: Being without Jesus is the most poor you can be. God will bless you, if you realize your need for Him. So, the first thing we need to realize is that we need Jesus. That s the first open door. b. Beatitudes were a new, superior way to live beyond the Law and the Ten Commandments. i. Jesus gives us more than laws; He gives us promises.

MAKE IT PERSONAL BELIEVER S VOICE OF VICTORY BROADCAST NOTES ii. In the Law vs. the Beatitudes relationship is the difference. iii. Unlike the Law, the Beatitudes are not focused on outward duty, but on inward change and surrender to Jesus and His love. iv. Blessed to have the capacity to have communion and union with God. Face-to-face time with Jesus. This is an inside relationship. c. Comfort those who mourn. You will be comforted by God as you are convicted of your old ways. d. Blessed when your heart is purified. When Jesus begins pulling things (weeds) out of your soul that don t belong, your heart becomes pure, and you begin to see God. e. When will you be persecuted? When people begin seeing a difference in you, they start talking about you. f. The kingdom of heaven has been yours since day one, but you are going to new levels of realizing it. i. The answer is What does the Word say about this situation in my life? ii. Cling tightly to Jesus, and your friends will see the results in your life. If you haven t already, look at the Beatitudes in your own Bible. Can you see the areas that the Lord has already been dealing with you about? Have you already been persecuted, or are you just realizing your need for Him? Wherever you are in your walk with the Lord, let Him remind you of some of the things He has done in your life. Then, say a quick prayer of thanksgiving and expectation. Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the mighty things You ve done for me. Thank You for giving me Your kingdom when You gave me Your Son, Jesus. I m so grateful for my personal relationship with You, and I am excited to see what You are going to do in my future. I give You all the praise, glory and honor for the upcoming days of glory in my life. In Jesus Name. Amen.

LIVING COMMUNION WITH JESUS KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD Gloria Copeland and Kellie Copeland DAY 4 JESUS IS GOD S LIVING WORD When Jesus was being tempted by Satan, He found His answer in God s Word! When you look to the Word for your answers, the power of the gospel can make your life new, and lead you into the life God has for you. STUDY IT I. You can meet Jesus in His Word. a. Don t overcomplicate God s Word with traditions, etc. God s done the work; we just have to believe and do what He says. b. God s Word is how we find out what works in life. The Father s way is always best. c. Jesus is the doorway to the Father. He is the Way, Truth and Life. d. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, He found His life and His answers in the Word (Matthew 4:1-11). i. Find God s life, receive it for yourself, and pass it down. ii. Guard your heart, for out of it flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:22-23). iii. Temptation means solicitations to evil. When you become alive to Jesus, you become dead to sin not the other way around. You must come alive first. e. The disciples had less of Jesus than we do. We have Him inside. Jesus walk with the disciples was introducing them to the Word of the Father. Now Jesus is the Word of God, the Father, to us. II. Jesus expects us to take the Word to others the same way He did. a. When Jesus was being tempted, the Word of God came out: It is written. He knew who He was, because He had a connection with the Father. b. Let God s Word go in and come out of your mouth.

III. IV. God wanted a family. a. Adam and Eve chose to meet their needs without God. b. Living for God is so much better than living life by yourself. c. Before the foundation of the world, Jesus knew He was going to be the sacrifice that was needed to bring God s family home. d. Jesus was the light of heaven before He came. His step down became our step up. e. God sent His Son for us. The power of the gospel can make us new. Jesus came for messed up people. Our salvation is not in our goodness. He s not bothered by our weakness. His glory is shown through our weaknesses. a. Jesus is the Word. b. Jesus was, and is, and is to come. The more we worship, the more we understand how big God is, and how detailed He wants to be in connection to us, despite our smallness. c. God is big. I am small, and I ll worship Him. i. You have defeated the enemy, because you were born over into God. ii. Jesus is the exact expression of the Father (John 14:9). V. Jesus is God, the Father s Word that became flesh. Jesus is God s living message to us from our Father God (John 1). a. In order to embrace Jesus, you have to embrace His Word. b. Become a son of God by embracing Jesus and His Word. c. Set your heart on Jesus by setting your heart on His Word (John 1:14-15). MAKE IT PERSONAL Take a moment to check your soul. Have you separated Jesus from His word to you? There are personal things that God ministers to us, but we miss it when we expect God to be someone other than who His Word says He is. Do you see God working in your life in alignment with His Word? God does not move apart from His Word, so we have to conform our lives to fit into the Word of God and not try to make God s Word conform to our lifestyle. This is not only when it comes to the thou shalt nots, but it s also a heart attitude. Remember James 3:17, But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Does your life reflect the joy, power, peace and healing represented in Jesus ministry, along with the obedience and diligence to righteousness? If there is something out of balance, let the Lord diagnose you today. When you take a moment to ask for His correction, see Him as the Great Physician and Healer of your soul.

LIVING COMMUNION WITH JESUS KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD Gloria Copeland and Kellie Copeland DAY 5 JESUS IS OUR LIVING BREAD EVERY DAY Jesus was the message of the Father s love sent to us. The reason the Word makes us grow is because it is Jesus. Our job is to receive the beautiful message of the One who was sent, and let Him produce growth in our lives every day. STUDY IT I. The reason the Word makes us grow is because it is Jesus. a. When Jesus came as a human, it was made possible for us as humans to enter into the presence of God. b. Jesus was all the love, life, light and glory of God sent to earth for us, so that God can live in us. c. Jesus was the message of the Father God s love to us. He s our freedom and the Truth who makes us free. II. III. The deeper you know the Word of God (Scripture), the more intimately you will know Jesus. a. The Word of God is alive and active, a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). b. If you don t get in God s Word, you can t really know Him. c. Begin to build your relationship with God, now. Don t wait for a storm (when you re desperate). It s hard to build a ship in a storm, but with Him, it s not impossible! Jesus has to be our living bread every day. a. You can use the Scripture to hurt people when you separate it from Jesus (the Word). b. After the miracle with food, why were the people looking for Jesus? Because they were now looking to Jesus primarily for natural food. They were hungry and food was what they thought they needed, but they really needed Jesus (John 6:23). c. Jesus responded: Don t be concerned about perishable things like food, but seek after God s kingdom.

d. Jesus is not only here to get your need met, but He wants to take your outward need as an open door to get your inside need met. i. Example: The woman at the well. Jesus told her about living water that would never run dry (John 4:1-42). When she accepted Jesus as the living water, it changed her life and that of others, forever. ii. Don t focus on the miracle. There is nothing you can do to perform the miracle. Jesus says when you believe in Him, He will do the miracle. IV. Throughout time, God has sent signs of His love and care. a. The rainbow sign to Noah: God loves you. He ll take care of you. b. Manna in Moses time: God loves you. He ll take care of you. c. Jesus is the sign of the covenant from heaven: God loves you as a Father, and Jesus loves you as Savior; they ll take care of you. MAKE IT PERSONAL Let God s love for you sink in. In a free moment today, just pause and realize how much He loves you. Stir up the faith you have in God s love. If a care, trouble, worry or fear comes today, just think of your Savior on the cross and the love He showed you there. Think of the discomfort He went through by leaving a perfect heaven to spend His time on the earth, and then in hell, so you can be free to know the Father s love.
