Parish News Poster Contest Attention Kindergarten through Eighth Graders! Turn in your entries for the Fall Festival Poster Contest this weekend! Pick up the poster paper in the narthex for your creation and make a poster on the themes: Kindergarten 3rd Grade: What do you think about when you think of fall, a festival, or a carnival? 4th Grade 8th Grade: What do you think about when you think of faith or a community? Make sure to write your name and grade the back of the poster and turn it in at the information desk this weekend. There will be prizes in the two age categories and everyone who submits a poster will receive 2 free fall festival games tickets! Funeral Announcements When a member of our parish family passes to Eternal Life, we post information about the funeral as soon as possible on our website at www.strichards.com/funerals. We also send out an email notice to all members of our St. Richard s Catholic Church E-News Group. Subscription information is available at www.strichards.com/e-news. Special November Liturgies We will have two Masses for All Saints Day on Thursday, November 1. Both the 8:00am and 12:15pm Masses will be held in the main church worship space. On Sunday, November 4, we will gather at 7:00pm for the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. These holy occasions of All Saints and All Souls Days are observed by many of our Latino brothers and sisters as Dia de los Muertos, a joyful remembrance of our beloved dead. Watch for more details about these observances in an upcoming bulletin! Bloomington-Richfield Grief Support Coalition The fall series continues to meet every Thursday through November 15 here at St. Richard. We begin with a speaker from 4:30 5:00pm in the Community Room, followed by a small support group discussions from 5:00 6:00pm. People of all faiths are welcome to come for the speaker, support group, or both, either each week or just dropping in once or twice. The group rotates meetings at different local churches throughout the year. Find more information about the coalition and member churches at www.brgriefcoalition.com or by visiting www.facebook.com/brgriefcoalition. Pope Francis continuously calls us to "go out to the peripheries" to care for those "on the outskirts of society." He talks about the "sacredness of each human person" and explained that "loving life means always taking care of the other, wanting the best for him, cultivating and respecting her transcendent dignity." Pope Francis also raised a challenging question that we each need to consider seriously: "In recognizing the inestimable value of human life, we must also reflect on how we use it. Life is first and foremost a gift." God has given us each the gift of life. How will we live it? (USCCB Respect Life Program Guide) Help Make the 2018 Festival a Success! Underwriting for Games & Prizes If you don t know what to donate to the Fall Festival, there are many underwriting opportunities to help defray the costs of our festival. Any amount is helpful and appreciated! Besides games & prizes other areas include food and beverages, publicity, licenses, etc. A full list of underwriting opportunities can be found in the narthex. If you know of a local business that might be interested in sponsoring part of the festival, please share this information with them! Thank you!! Catch up on past Festival Corners!
