Elect from every nation, yet one o er all the earth; her charter of salvation one Lord, one faith, one birth: one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food; and to one hope she presses with every grace endued.

Though with a scornful wonder men see her sore opprest, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distrest; yet saints their watch are keeping, their cry goes up, 'How long?' and soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song. Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace for evermore: till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest; and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest. Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three-in-One; and mystic, sweet communion with those whose rest is won: O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we with them the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee. S. J Stone: Public Domain

Worship Songs I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people s pain. I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? Refrain I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. CCLI 2765 Daniel L. Schutte 1981 New Dawn Music Song 2 Blessèd be your name in the land that is plentiful, where your streams of abundance flow, blessèd be your name. blessèd be your name when I m found in the desert place, though I walk through the wilderness, blessèd be your name. Ev ry blessing you pour out I ll turn back to praise. when the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say: Blessèd be the name of the Lord, blessèd be your name. Blessèd be the name of the Lord, blessèd be your glorious name. Blessèd be your name when the sun s shining down on me, when the world s all as it should be, blessèd be your name.

blessèd be your name on the road marked with suffering, though there s pain in the offering, blessèd be your name. Ev ry blessing you pour out I ll turn back to praise. when the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say: Blessèd be the name of the Lord, blessèd be your name. Blessèd be the name of the Lord, blessèd be your glorious name. (x2) You give and take away you give and take away, My heart will choose to say, ʻLord, blèssed be your name.ʼ (x2) Blessèd be the name of the Lord, blessèd be your name. Blessèd be the name of the Lord, blessèd be your glorious name. (x2) CCLI 2765 Beth & Matt Redman 2002 Thankyou Music Offertory Hymn [175] Come down, O Love divine! seek thou this soul of mine and visit it with thine own ardour glowing; O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear, and kindle it, thy holy flame bestowing.

O let it freely burn till earthly passions turn to dust and ashes in its heat consuming; and let thy glorious light shine ever on my sight, and clothe me round, the while my path illuming. Let holy charity mine outward vesture be, and lowliness become mine inner clothing; true lowliness of heart which takes the humbler part, and o er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing. And so the yearning strong with which the soul will long shall far outpass the power of human telling; for none can guess its grace till he become the place wherein the Holy Spirit makes his dwelling. Bianco Da Siena tr. R.F. Littledale : Public Domain Final Hymn [540] O Lord of heaven and earth and sea, to thee all praise and glory be, How shall we show our love to thee who givest all? The golden sunshine, vernal air, sweet flowers and fruit, thy love declare; when harvests ripen thou art there who givest all.

For peaceful homes and healthful days, for all the blessings earth displays, we owe thee thankfulness and praise who givest all. Thou didst not spare thine only Son, but gav st him for a world undone and freely with that blessed One thou givest all. Thou giv st the Holy Spirit s dower, Spirit of life and love and power and dost his sevenfold graces shower upon us all. For souls redeemed, for sins forgiven, for means of grace and hopes of heaven, Father, what can to thee be given who givest all. We lose what on ourselves we spend; we have as treasure without end whatever, Lord, to thee we lend who givest all. To thee, from whom we all derive our life, our gifts, our power to give: O may we ever with thee live; who givest all. Christopher Wordsworth: Public Domain Please stay for coffee and a chat after the service!

All those whom we know who are sick, lonely, troubled or grieving and our neighbouring churches in vacancy: St Andrew s and St Botolph s. Please pray also for church family members and residents in local Nursing & Care Homes whom Muriel and the pastoral team visit, and the now homeless residents of the tower block in São Paulo which collapsed on May 1st after a terrible fire. Open Church Many thanks to all who come along to our Open Church days throughout the week, and especially to our fund raising Mission coffee mornings each Wednesday, when we welcome donations for the many missions we support. Peter and Mary Stewart have asked for our prayers this month for Mozambique, a country overwhelmingly Christian, where more than half of the people are poor. May we give thanks for Bible Hubs and pray that more can be opened so more people can be reached with the Good News. May we remember the Good Samaritan programme which cares for the country with one of the highest rates of HIV in the world.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY! BIBLE FOCUS THE ISSUES OF TODAY Muriel and others are leading a Home Group within the church for those who do not attend one or who wish to join an additional one. Instead of studying one book of the Bible, the group take a topic and explore what scripture says about it. This is held on the FIRST Tuesday of each month at 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Topics will include: Compassion, Fear, Anger, Hope, Security, Honesty and Loneliness Tuesday 8 th May, 12.30pm to 1.30pm The Sussex Guitar Quartet with Maria Gibson, Bernd Rest, Brian Ashworth & Jon Rattenbury. No charge for entry, donations welcomed on exit for Christ Church funds. Tea, coffee and biscuits served before and after
