Psalm 95:6 No matter who you are a committed follower of Jesus, a person curious about Christianity, or a skeptic of spirituality God is calling you worship him. Wherever you are on journey, we hope that you feel welcomed at home. Perhaps you have never been church (or not in a long time) fear that you will not know what do, how act, or what say. Be assured: God s grace is for people just like you. In our congregation, we follow an ancient liturgical pattern in our worship, drawing from wisdom of Christians who have gone before us. Every Sunday we renew our commitment God, offer him our prayers gifts, confess our sins, receive forgiveness, hear from God s word, celebrate Lord s Supper ger. We find worshipping this way liberates us from our culture's obsession that which is novel. We have also found worshipping this way be deeply profoundly formative over time. If you are not used worship, or not used worshipping in this manner, give yourself some time get acclimated. We also make every effort explain things as we go along. Although we are committed worshiping in this manner, we realize that danger of liturgical worship is that it can become an empty ritual. We underst that, at its heart, worship is profoundly relational. It encompasses both our relationship God our relationship one anor. Every week we gar meet God, strengn our ties one anor, welcome strangers in our congregation. For se reasons, although our worship is structured informed by ancient practices, we also strive for it be warm personal. In all of this, our great confidence is that God enjoys meeting us. Let us worship! Unless orwise noted, all Scripture quotations are from The Holy Bible, English Stard Version (ESV ), copyright 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. SERMON TEXT 1 John 4:16b18 (NIV) [16b] God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, God in m. [17] This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. [18] There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has do punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 12
