From the desk of the Pastor General Intercessions Announcement You will notice a change in the General Intercessions. From now on, in an effort to follow the policies provided in Cannon Law, and reiterated by the Pastoral Manual of the Diocese, the specific Mass intentions the For whom this Mass is offered will not be included in the General Intercessions. The General Intercessions follow strict rubrics laid out by the Church over many years of development and are theologically linked to the prayers of the Faithful you, the people sitting in the pews. That is why they are ordinarily read by deacons and other ministers, and not the priest celebrating the Mass. The Mass Intention the persons the Mass is being offered for is a Priestly intention, and not a general intercession of the people. As such, the specific Mass intentions for each Mass will no longer be read with the General Intercessions of the Faithful. Be assured that the priest celebrating the Mass will remember specifically the persons for whom the Mass is offered. Indeed, he will have the names of the people on the altar during the Mass that is being offered on their behalf. As always, we will continue to print the names of the specific Mass intentions in each bulletin. Also, please know that during the General Intercessions, we may all pray for the deceased, including specifically those for whom the Mass is offered, and any of our friends or lovedones, when we offer those prayers we hold in the depths of our hearts.
