21 DAYS OF PRAYER

More than 3 billion people do not have clear access to the gospel and, therefore, will likely live and die without ever hearing that Jesus loves them and has provided a way for them to be forgiven. Jesus tasked His followers to go and make disciples, to proclaim the gospel and call people to repent and believe. It is our hope that as you pray for countries and people around the world, your hearts will grow together in a desire to see Christ exalted in your own community and among the nations.

Oct 22 North Carolina Baptist Children s Homes The Baptist Children s Homes of N.C. exist to provide the highest quality of Christian services to children, adults, and families in a caring culture of measurable excellence. Pray for BCH caregivers and counselors. Everyday they face unique challenges as they minister and pour their lives into children and students. Ask God to give them wisdom, clarity, patience, purity and discernment.

Oct 23 Coats for the City Coats for the City shares the love of Jesus by providing warm coats and the gospel to residents of New York City each December. The North Carolina Baptist State Convention partners with local churches in New York to distribute these needed coats along with a Bible or Jesus film in the language of every recipient. Pray that God would move mightily this December in the lives of those who need a warm coat and the good news of Jesus Christ. Time is not in our hands, but it is in God s sovereign hands. May these people hear and believe the gospel of Christ in their lifetime.

Oct 24 Story City Church Pray for Story City Church in Burbank, CA as they seek God s leadership in beginning a new campus in Santa Clarita. Ask for clarity, core team, location, and the resources to reach this community of 180,000+.

Oct 25 Mexico Mexico s population today is roughly 125 million, while about 11.7 million and 58,000 Mexicans now reside in the United States and North Carolina, respectively. Pray for Mexicans in the United States to find not just economic prosperity, but also the riches of new life in Jesus Christ. Pray for workers to be raised up to reap the harvest among Mexican immigrants, who are more open to Christianity due to the changes in their lives. Oct 26 Pardoned by Christ The mission of Pardoned by Christ is to restore lives affected by incarceration. To reach out to people directly or indirectly affected by imprisonment and share the love and provision that is found in Jesus Christ. Pray for the local church to help provide for the spiritual and practical needs of those affected by incarceration. Inmates and families are usually bankrupt monetarily and spiritually with no support or resources. Pray for God to provide resources for Pardoned by Christ s transitional house particularly believers who will teach life skills, financial budgeting, and Bible studies

An unreached people group is defined as a grouping of people who share the same ethnicity and language and whose home country is less than 2 percent evangelical Christian.

Oct 27 London More than 50 non-indigenous communities, each with 10,000 people or more, have been identified in London, making it truly a global city. More than 300 languages are spoken in London, with 37 percent of the city s population born outside the U.K. Just as the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and sent to the ends of the earth, pray that believers in London will use their jobs, education, and positions as platforms to take the Gospel to the world. Oct 28 Water Mission Water Mission builds safe water solutions that break through the global water crisis that affects the 2.1 billion people that lack access to clean water. Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico on September 20, 2017 and most of the island s residents continue to lack access to electricity and clean water. Pray for the 200 rural communities in Puerto Rico that have water systems managed by the Department of Health, and that desperately need safe water.

Oct 29 Mexico The common philosophy in Mexico is, to be Mexican is to be Catholic. Although exciting missionary work is happening in northern Mexico, conversion to evangelical Christianity comes with a price. Those who choose to follow Jesus in faith and baptism are losing their families, jobs, and homes due to persecution. Despite this, Mexicans are becoming Christians and are boldly sharing their faith with their families and friends. Many are answering the call to go to the nations. Pray for the persecuted church in Mexico to grow and reproduce.

Oct 30 India Think about devout Muslims bowing toward Mecca five times a day. From many perspectives, that act sounds like something one might aspire to if the object of devotion is the one true God. But sadly, dedicated Muslims spend their lives following law and ritual in an attempt to be found righteous before Allah, whom they hope will allow them to enter paradise when they die. Approximately 457 million Muslims call South Asia home, more Muslims than the Middle East and North Africa combined. God is calling them to himself and many are choosing to follow him. Pray that many Muslims will find the freedom and grace that is only available through Jesus Christ. Oct 31 Disaster Relief Hundreds of disasters take place every year across North America mudslides, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, fires and more. A normal day can quickly turn into a crisis, and it takes normal people to respond to extraordinary circumstances. Pray that as a church we would respond well during times of crisis and provide for our local community, earning trust and supporting relationships

Nov 1 Han Chinese The Han people of China is the largest people group in China, with more than 900 million worldwide. It is estimated that about 6.86 percent are evangelical believers. They primarily speak the Mandarin Chinese language. Some practice Buddhism, but most are nonreligious. Ask for God to bring believers who are willing to share the gospel into the lives of the Han Chinese of North Carolina. Ask that Han believers will be bold in sharing with their family and friends.

Nov 2 International Justice Mission and Shield NC North Carolina has consistently ranked in the top 10 states in the country for having a human trafficking problem. Both children and adults, male and female are sold for sex or labor for the benefit of another. Trafficking occurs in hotels, homes, truck stops, and massage parlors. In total, 40.3 million people are slaves worldwide; 24% of those are children. Trafficking is a $150 billion industry. Pray for the rescue and restoration of victims to their families and the resources for advocates to provide safe and secure shelters and jobs.

Although millions live in unreached locations, 55 percent of the world s population resides in urban areas as of 2018. This presents an incredible gospel-sharing opportunity because many unreached people groups are coming together in these global cities. Nov 3 Jackson Heights Community Church (Queens) Jackson Heights Community Church is a new church plant that focuses on ministry and evangelism in Queens, New York. There are over 100,000 residents in Jackson Heights and the adjacent neighborhoods. The vast majority are new immigrants from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Tibet, Pakistan, and many Spanish speaking countries. Pray that these people who have minimal experience with church or Christianity would come to know the grace of Jesus Christ.

Nov 4 London London is composed of people of every world religion including Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Catholics, and Sikhs. Pray for the gospel to penetrate these places of worship. Pray that God would not only save the spiritual leaders, but would also make them witnesses for Christ.

Nov 5 Hope for Guatemala Hope for Guatemala is dedicated to helping the children and families in Zone 18 of Guatemala City break the cycle of poverty and help them achieve the quality of life that God desires for them. Hope currently serves close to 150 children from 80 families who in turn impact up to 1000 people in Zone 18. Pray that the love of Jesus would captivate the hearts of these children and that they would turn to Him for salvation. Pray that God would grant the leadership of Hope wisdom, grace, and discernment. Nov 7 Love Life God, hear our cries to end abortion in Wake County. We commit to help create a culture of love and life in our cities and communities, so moms in need will run to the local church instead of the abortion clinics. Nov 6 Capitol Commission Capitol Commission s vision is to reach the Capitol community for Christ, one person at a time, to disciple them, and to prepare them for a lifetime of ministry, wherever God chooses to place them. Political leaders regularly encounter strong temptations that include greed, deceitfulness, sexual immorality, and alcohol and drug abuse. They are often away from their families for many days at a time with little to no accountability. Pray for them to have the strength to resist these temptations that can destroy their lives and families. Nov 8 RiverCross RiverCross believes that the world s most vulnerable children need a bridge to hope. For many children, trauma has broken their hearts. RiverCross builds bridges of hope to help children cross from where their trauma defines them into the arms of Christ. Pray for the indigenous caregivers who provide housing and care for approximately 26 orphans. By equipping caregivers with biblically based trauma healing, they can in turn bring that hope to the vulnerable children in their care.

Nov 9 Urdu Urdu speakers are historically associated with the Muslims of South Asia. Urdu is the national language of Pakistan and an official language of six Indian states. There are an estimated 137 million Urdu speakers worldwide, with about 263,000 and 6,300 in the United States and North Carolina, respectively. The majority of Urdu speakers adhere to Islam. The number of Islamic mosques being built by Urdu speakers will attest to the growing population of Urdu people in the metro areas. Pray for Christians who live and work among Urdu people to begin loving friendships with them. Pray for the Holy Spirit to begin revealing the true nature of God to Urdu people in powerful ways.

Nov 10 Young Life Young Life is an international ministry that introduces middle school and high school students to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith. Young Life leaders go where students are and build personal relationships with them. They invite students to personally respond to the Gospel, walking in friendship with them regardless of their response. Pray for local Young Life leaders to diligently find opportunities to engage students and build strong relationships. Pray for believing students to have boldness in sharing their faith and a heart s desire to invite their friends to Young Life, church, and ultimately to meet Jesus. There are 3,800 unreached people groups that live in remote places or under governments and cultures that restrict, oppress or are openly hostile toward the gospel.

Nov 11 China Is it possible to live in a city the size of Atlanta and never hear the gospel? In China, with a population of 1.6 billion, a city of this size is considered small. In addition to countless remote villages, 450 of these small cities have not yet been reached with the good news. People are migrating to these cities to make a better life for themselves and their families, but ironically, the average person is so caught up in the frenzy of making a living that his or her quality of life has suffered. Most are quick to say that they have no time for worship, fellowship, or God. Pray for people in these unreached places to realize their need for God and to make time for him.

Nov 12 Eastland Baptist Church Barna Research shows that only 20 percent of those calling Nashville home are committed Christians leaving 1.5 million people without the hope of an eternity spent with Christ. The community has been self-described as hipster freedom and equality of self-expression for all. It is a very artistic community that believes that truth is subjective and there are no clear standards for what is right and wrong. Pray for open doors into the East Nashville community to demonstrate and declare the Gospel.
