THERE S A WAR GOING ON - PART I Rev. Mike Roberts October 9, 2016 1. The Apostle Paul warned us to put on the whole of God. 2. All the wars of this world are but symptoms of the war that is raging within our. 3. There are wars that we all fight daily. 4. These wars are not against flesh and blood but against principalities...powers rulers of the darkness and wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12) 5. The truth is, we all fall. We begin our lives in a fallen state. It s called. 6. It is essential that we believe in the birth of Christ, for without it, we are still lost in sin. 7. We were born in a fallen state, but at some point in our lives we all to sin. And even after receiving Christ and being redeemed, there are times when we. 8. Sometimes we fall. Sometimes we are deeply hurt. But even in those times we don t have to be. 9. There is a war going on and it helps if we can be the best for battle. You come at me with sword and shield, but I come in the name of the Lord God Almighty. (I Samuel 17:45) 10. There is a war going on and we must it. 11. The biggest advantage the enemy will ever have in his fight against us will be our. 12. If our nation loses the war against terrorism, we lose some very pre- cious freedoms. But if we lose our spiritual war, we lose.

PASTOR S PAGE Last Sunday evening, I attended my first business meeting since being appointed to serve as one of the pastors at Pace FUMC. (Actually, I had already attended two SPRC meetings but they were to interview prospects for the Choir Director position more on that in days to come.) Now, I must be honest and tell you that I really don t like to attend meetings. Take me to the woodshed and give me a good old fashioned whuppin but don t make me go to meetings. But it comes with the job so I willingly will attend. Fortunately, the first two that I attended last week were actually enjoyable and constructive. The first was our Missions Committee meeting when we discussed at length how we can use the Faith Promise contributions that have already been received. It was decided that from these funds we will give each person who participates in a mission trip one-half of the actual cost of the mission plus a $500 gift to help to finance the project of the mission (one project gift per team). This should encourage us to remember the Faith Promise we made last spring when God touched so many of our hearts to give what we didn t already have. It should be noted that gifts to our mission workers will be given to those traveling in the future as well as those who have already gone to Ecuador and Belarus. In all, I think this is a positive step toward helping our people fulfill God s call on all of us to be witnesses for Christ here and around the world. The second meeting was the Administrative Board. I must tell you that it was actually fun to sit among a group of people who care for one another and who are excited about the ministry of our church. I just want to give attaboys and attagirls to everyone who led and/or gave reports; to those who contributed to the discussions and to those who listened and prayerfully voted. I wish all the board meetings I attended in my 41 years of ministry before retirement could have been that good. Like I said, it was fun Well tonight we get to continue our string of meetings with our Annual Charge Conference. Dr. Tim Trent (our District Superintendent who preached for us three weeks ago) will be leading the meeting and we will have an opportunity to hear reports from various church leaders on what God has done here at Pace FUMC this past year. Everyone is invited to come because it is an open meeting. Only the board members can vote but everyone will have the opportunity to express their opinion and enjoy the fellowship. So join us tonight for Charge Conference at 6:30 in the Sanctuary and let s have some more fun! Mike

FUMC-Pace donated 173 pounds on July 20, 198 pounds in August, and 144 pounds in September. Please continue to bring your food donations and place them in the vestibule. The need is great! Last year Manna serviced 75 people twice a month. This year they are servicing 144 people twice a month. There is also a need for cloth grocery bags if you have any to donate. Also needed at this time are paper products, personal hygiene and feminine products. Many thanks to Marilyn Fussell for making sure our donations are delivered to Manna each month.
