As we continue fundraising to meet our $12 million goal to complete AbyWest, we would like to share preliminary renderings of the Community Center s Reception Area and Fellowship Hall. We envision a space where members can gather and fellowship before and after worship services, and it would also function as a Hall for special occasions and events. We urge you to continue supporting this effort, and remain diligent and prayerful as we strive to reach our goal.
How to maximize all your financial potential while placing the as a Top Priority! The following information was designed to create alignment within the church and the biblical connection to tithing, purposeful generosity and budget planning. 7 Items for Creating a Solid Financial future for your family and Stewardship for the Church: Create a budget and expense report to assess where you are now. Automate your savings and gifting to the Church, before you spend; Give 10% for stewardship to the Church and put away at least 10% of your income in a retirement account or savings. Include a motivational item such as a dream apartment or a trip/experience with family. Limit entertainment overdose. (Commit to things that you can afford and have a passion for). No spending one day a month/week. Make a plan to walk to Church or make lunch for you and your partner. Skyping is free, and you can go online to find free events. Remember that less is more, look for alternatives! Let us show you ways to be more cost effective. Carry cash, reduce credit purchases, be aware that small items add up. Swiping plastic does not have the same realization as paying cash. Give! Paradoxically, being generous makes us feel abundant, and GOD rewards us by giving us more. The start of Spring brings new growth and financial possibilities, and we want you to take action by planting seeds of prosperity for yourself and the church. Money is a deeply personal subject and financial circumstances vary greatly from individual to individual as well as family to family. There are no one size fits all rules regarding money and financial planning. Information Provided by THE ABYSSINIAN BAPTIST CHURCH TRUSTEE BOARD
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION BIBLE QUEST Strengthen your awareness of biblical facts by responding to as many questions as possible before checking the Aby website http://abyssinian.org/ministry/christian-education/abyssinianinstitute-for-christian-education/ for the correct Bible references to the questions. During this season of Lent, be intentional about taking time to center yourself as you read the entire chapter where the answers are found. What was the name of the high priest s servant whose ear Peter struck with a sword during Jesus arrest? [John 18: 1 11] How many of the 12 disciples were with Jesus mother at the Cross? [John 19:25-27] This man asked Pilot for the body of Jesus. [Luke 23: 50 56] Jesus was crucified on this ill.[matthew 27:32-37] THE ABYSSINIAN INSTITUTE FOR CHRISTIAN EDUCATION 2017 SPRING SERIES BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES New Testament John: The Apostle of Love - Thursday 5/4 7:00 PM 8:30 PM Instructor, Minister Pamela D. Mason Have you read the New Testament writings of John the same John that walked with Jesus and provided guidance and direction to the faith communities of his time? Now is the time to get a deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit moved in John s life to inspire writings that are relevant for the living of these days. His epistles reflect a strong personality as he exposes good and evil, and his gospel places more emphasis on the deity of Jesus than any of the three Synoptic gospels. As we approach Resurrection Sunday, make time in your schedule to journey thru the writings of The Apostle John Old Testament Passing the Baton: Moses to Joshua - Thursdays 5/25, 6/1, 6/8, 6/15 7:00 PM 8:30 PM Instructor, Minister Pamela D. Mason The strength of our success today depends on our ability to discern God s voice above all else and our willingness to follow His lead. Therefore, studying the historical Books of Deuteronomy and Joshua are critical for governing our lives effectively. They provide insights into the relevancy of telling our story, over and over again to generations that were not present during times of great struggle and the victories that followed. Take a snapshot in time with us through God s Code of Conduct, as He prepared Moses and Joshua to lead Israel and its importance for us today as we press forward in a new direction for our lives.
