Volume 47, Issue 1 January 2016 Address: 1900 3 rd Ave. Anoka, MN, 55303 Phone: (763) 421-3357 Greetings from the East! I greet you all for the first time as the Master of the Lodge, and boy does that sound a bit odd to say. Thank you all who made it to the installation and to all of you who sent well wishes, the day was very special and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. After attending the installation of Steve Kingdon as Monarch of Selim Grotto one of my underlying themes for the year was reinforced, family. Masonry and our appendant bodies do a good job of working well together and that has made us stronger than we could be alone, and to take a page out of Aaron Brendel s book stronger together. I think though we need to do a little more playing together though, we had the Nerf gun battle aka Zombie Apocalypse Survival Party again and that helped with playing with the youth, but I d like to see more outings with our Sisters in the OES, the Anoka Area Shrine, and the Grotto. I would also like to see some events that aren t necessarily branded a Masonic outing so that our personal families feel a bit more included and not like they are going to an event where they are on the outside. With that in mind if we ever get any snow I d like to get a group out to the Elm Creek tubing area for an afternoon/evening and if people don t want to tube we can have a spot for a gathering in the warming house. I m also working with PM Dave Hansel to set up a camping night this summer, if people don t want to camp but want to come hang out and BBQ and sit around a bon fire great. Are you all getting that warm fuzzy feeling that I want to bring us all closer together? OK maybe we won t go all the way to warm fuzzy, but we have a great opportunity to share our love an joy across several generations with people who most likely wouldn t know each other if it weren t for this Masonic Family. Mayer created the event. The Grand Master John Gann was even present and we gave him a present as well as it was his birthday, PM Don Nolley and I presented MWB John with a cane just to make sure that he would be safe walking around. There were also quite a few Job s and DeMolay present, with a lot of DeMolay Squires prospective Squires in attendance. The Bones Brothers made a fantastic baked potato bar to make sure we all had enough energy to run and gun. We also had our breakfast with Santa on December 20 th and had another banner year for this event. I believe that we served over 200 adults and close to 100 children. I m not sure if we have a tally as to how many children just received pictures and didn t have any breakfast though. I do know that we missed PM John Aguilar, but Steve Kingdon was a fantastic Santa and gave kids an opportunity to tell Santa what they wanted. Thank you Steve! I look forward to an awesome year and if you haven t been to Lodge in a while I want to extend an invitation to come back and see us. Love & Respect, Paul Agustin Worshipful Master Speaking of the Zombie Apocalypse Survival Party we raised $570 before Masonic matching for Hope-4- Youth and an additional $130 for our own Job s Daughters #48. I think the turnout was the largest we have seen in the several years since PM Todd

Greetings from the West! Happy New Year! January is upon us and as usual, this is a time for new beginnings, resolutions, and attitudes. I am honored to be elected to the Senior Warden office. I find myself humbled by the lodge s show of confidence in me and determined to live up to the needs of the officer. Last year, I wrote about personal attitudes and behaviors such as subduing my passions and circumscribing my actions. This was to show that my journey through Masonry is as much an internal journey as an external one. Also, if you want to change the world, or even your small part of it, you must begin the change with yourself. Chaplin s Corner: Father Thomas is the Anoka Lodge Chaplin and Chairman of the Sunshine Committee. If you or someone you know in the Masonic Family are in need of support, please contact Father Thomas at (612) 702-4770 This year, I plan to talk about how I use the lessons of Masonry to Meet, Act, and Part with others in my life. I plan to focus on my interactions as a Mason and hope to live up to the standards my Masonic role-models set by just living their lives. I also plan to focus on ensuring that none go away dissatisfied with either me or the lodge. As a result, please feel free to contact me directly with any issues that are causing you concern within the lodge and I will do my best to address your concerns. Lastly, this new year brings new beginnings and new opportunities to volunteer and be active within the lodge. If you and interested in any of the lodge events, activities, or committees, or would like to try a new event, please let me know and I can assist you in your planning and efforts or ensure that you get connected to the right people to get involved. Contact me any time: 612-801-4843 timothy_carney@hotmail.com Bones Brothers Upcoming Events: Though the Bones Brothers are sort of dark at the moment, don t forget you can always stop by their site and order some Swag to help support them! Greetings from the South! Brethren, another year begins and once again I find my Duties and Obligations become more and more extensive as I advance in Masonry. I look forward to the challenge of being one of the Principle Officers here at Anoka Lodge and am honored to serve this lodge as so many Brothers whom I love and respect have done before me. I hope that as in the past I can count on many of you Brothers to assist with all the work that needs to be done here at Anoka Lodge. We have around 270 members on our roster and we need all of you to get involved in some way as the year progresses. I have said it many times that Many hands make the light work and by all of us doing a part, however small, we can do so much more for our lodge, our community and our craft. Here at Anoka we have lots of committees and each could use your participation. From the Past Masters, House, Charitable Activities, Mentorship, New Member, Technology, Media, Investigation or others, there are opportunities for each of you. Just signing up to assist with one of the many events would be great! The Traveling Man group did a couple of runs during the month of December, one of which was to Templar Lodge, where one of our newest Master Masons, Lucas Kielblock, proved up in his 3 rd Degree and took home the Proficiency Sword back to Anoka Lodge. The 2 nd visit was out to Minneapolis #19, a lovely lodge located inside the Scottish Rite. Both were great visits and a lot of fun! On January 18 th, we will be heading out to Stillwater Lodge #1. There is no dinner there, to car pool, meet at the lodge around 6:15pm. Thomas Senenfelder Traveling Man Coordinator For more info call: 763-746-6720 I challenge each of you make an effort to be a part of something on this year s calendar. We all joined Masonry for different reasons, but I think I can say with a fair amount of certainty that we all want to be more than we were and want to help others. Please take this chance to fulfill that desire and make us a better lodge! Terrance M Schaffer Junior Warden Visiting Templar Lodge #176 to steal the Sword! Out at Minneapolis Lodge #19.

Some Anoka Lodge Events in Pictures! 4 th Annual Zombie Apocalypse Party (Or 3 rd for the Survivors) It was an awesome free for all! From Jobies to the Grand Master of Minnesota!
