HOSPITALITY AFTERNOON Once a year, for some time now, we have enjoyed meeting together in different homes on a Sunday afternoon and enjoying the company of others. This year SUNDAY, 19TH AUGUST has been chosen for this year s occasion and already we have offers of homes. So, if you would like to join in this time of friendship, please give your name to Eileen Squire, Fulham (8356 3461) or Pat Farran, Temple (8356 2884) as soon as possible. To assist the hosts for the day, guests are asked to bring a plate of afternoon tea. It s a delightful way of spending a wintry afternoon.
On Tuesday, 3rd July at 10 a.m. the Henley-Fulham Fellowship was host to the executive members of the South Australian Unit of The Australian Church Women Inc. Invitations were sent to Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Lutheran and Church of Christ Churches in the Henley/Port Adelaide area. Guests from several of these churches attended. Morning tea was served followed by a meeting led by The Australian Church Women. The President, Rev. Nita West (a retired Uniting Church Minister) led the meeting. During the meeting which included a roll call of the 43 churches involved in the area was read. Also read from a book containing the history of women of Christian faith in South Australia was a story of the Christian work of our own member Beth Brice. Nita then gave the story of the work carried out by OZ HARVEST, an Australian wide charity collecting and donating goods from various shops and supermarkets to various churches and charities. A Lutheran Pastor attending our meeting was able to give first-hand information of the help given to their church to help needy people by OZ Harvest. A very interesting and worthwhile meeting.
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the works Thy hand has made, I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed: Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art! When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze: But when I think that God, His Son not sparing, sent him to die - I scarce can take it in that on the cross, our burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away our sin: When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home - what joy shall fill my heart! Then shall I bow in humble adoration, and there proclaim: My God, how great Thou art! Words and music Stuart K. Hine 1953 Kingsway Thank You Music
