Ministry Opportunities at St. Anastasia Catholic Church 2018-19 Please pray about and consider choosing a NEW ministry to get involved in along with the ministry you are already participating in! The forms are for NEW ministries only! Your coordinator will be contacting you to confirm your continued involvement in your ongoing ministry. We ask for at least a one year commitment. Please contact your ministry coordinator if you have questions. Ministries marked with an asterisk ( * ) are kid / teen-friendly or family-friendly opportunities. Please note that children under 13 years old require parent supervision. All adult volunteers (18 and over) working with children in in any capacity must complete a free, 3 hour Protecting God s Children workshop. Workshops are continually offered around the Archdiocese of Detroit. A calendar and registration are available at www.virtus.org. This website is also where you may register for a workshop. Teens who are 17 or younger and working with children need to complete a Called to Serve workshop in order to volunteer. Many classes are offered throughout the diocese. St. Anastasia is hosting a Called to Serve workshop January 5, 2019 for all 9th graders and any other teen who needs it. Contact the Religious Ed Office (Ext. 111) by Nov 15 if you have questions or would like to register for this class. (9th graders in the Confirmation program are already registered for this workshop as part of their curriculum).

CHRISTIAN SERVICE For Christian Service ministries, contact Kim Houseman at Ext. 112 or khouseman@stanastasia.org unless otherwise noted. Whatever you do, do from your heart. (Colossians 3:23) Advent by Candlelight Team Be on the planning team for this wonderful Advent women s event on Monday, December 10, 2018. We need help making copies, setting up and cleaning up, and washing tablecloths (the week of the event). Beaumont Communion Minister Every Sunday, directly from 8:15 AM Mass, ministers bring Holy Communion to all Catholics who desire the Sacrament (150-170 patients) at Troy Beaumont. We ask that you serve approximately every 5-6 weeks. You must be a Beaumont Volunteer to serve at the hospital. You are very much needed! Training is provided. You are usually back home by lunch time. Bereavement Letter Writer You will be asked to send letters of encouragement and prayer to families who have lost a loved one for a period of one year. Notes are sent quarterly to let them know they are in our prayers. You will be on a rotation list and would most likely receive about 4 5 addresses a year. Blood Drives for Red Cross We coordinate four drives a year. This involves donor recruitment after Masses in the gathering space the weekend prior to the event and/or attending the blood drive the day of 1-7 PM. Training is available. Clothing Drive* Our parish will be conducting a clothing collection on Saturday morning October 13 th, 2018 and March 9 th, 2019. We need volunteers to receive, sort and box the items in preparation for delivery. In addition we can always use volunteers who are able to deliver the items to the organizations we support. If you are interested in volunteering please email grace101@wowway.com at or call Greg Bright at 248-396-7417. Communion to the Homebound Once a week parishioners who are unable to participate in the Liturgy are visited and brought Holy Communion by volunteers from the parish. The minister visits on the day of their choice, arranged in advance with the parishioners. The rotating schedule requires one half day of time every 4 to 5 weeks visiting 4-5 parishioners. Training is provided. Easter Food Baskets This once a year ministry needs volunteers who are willing to deliver food baskets locally on a Saturday morning during Lent. Jesus asks us to come follow Him and feed His sheep. Focus: HOPE/Bethany Villa* On the second Saturday of each month, supplemental food boxes are delivered to low-income senior citizens at Bethany Villa. You will deliver food (7-8 boxes per person 9:15-11 AM) from St. Anastasia. Backup positions are also needed. Teams are rotated throughout the year so your assistance is needed 3-4 times a year. This ministry is great for family participation! Boxes are heavy so you must be able to carry.

Food Pantry Shelving & Organization Volunteers are needed during the WINTER months ONLY to sort, check expiration dates and shelve the food in the pantry. Day of the week and time of day are flexible according to your schedule and the amount of food collected that week. We can use your help for an hour a week in Nov/Dec. Not on sign-up form email khouseman@stanastasia.org. Garden of Giving* Help feed the poor by planting and harvesting produce grown at home or on church property. In the summer, we need weeders, planters, & drivers to local shelters to deliver veggies (May Sep). This takes approximately one hour a week during the summer. Giving Tree* Special collections twice a year (Dec / Aug) for organizations that put our generosity to good use. Help needed with delivery of donations, donation management, packaging and sorting. Sorting takes place one day for 2 hours, and delivery is the next day to a local facility. Martha Minister We help in an emergency, or on a temporary basis, by preparing and delivering a meal for a family or senior parishioner. Light housekeeping and errands are also areas volunteers are needed, as well as an occasional ride to Sunday Mass. Can you help parishioners in need on an occasional basis? Contact khouseman@stanastasia.org. Military Letter Writing* Volunteers needed once/twice per year, usually May, July and/or Nov. This is an excellent ministry for the entire family. We will have opportunities for those with a patriotic creative flair, greeting parishioners, encouraging them to participate in this ministry. This ministry brings comfort, love, peace, and joy to our parishioners and their family and friends so far away. This would occur on a weekend after Masses. Contact Florence Parent at Ext. 100. No One Dies Alone Minister A wonderful program which provides companionship for the dying at Troy Beaumont. Training provided. One must be a Beaumont Volunteer to participate. You would be notified via email if there is a patient who needs companionship and prayer. This time involvement is completely up to your availability. St. Aloysius & Local Area Drivers Our intake items for the homeless customers of St. Aloysius are abundant and drivers are needed to take the donations to their destination. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) St. Vincent DePaul endeavors to meet those in need on a person to person basis. We are energized by the awareness that service to others is in fact an encounter with our Lord. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. We are called Vincentians. We bring a wide variety of gifts to share with our brothers and sisters in need. Our meetings are twice a month on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 PM.
