SERVICE TIMES SUNDAYS 8:00, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m. Communion served the 1st Sunday of each month WEDNESDAYS at 7:00 p.m. Communion served weekly OFFICE HOURS Tuesday - Thursday 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Friday 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. THIS WEEK AT GUMC SUNDAY, May 6, 2018 Scripture Reading - Ephesians 4:11-13 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Sermon Scripture - Philippians 1:3-11 I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

CHURCH WORK DAY - MAY 5 Our next Church Work Day will be held on Saturday, May 5th, starting at 9:00 a.m. We will be working inside & outside the building. Everyone is welcome to pitch in and help! Bring rakes and gloves if you have them. LOST AND FOUND Children's coats, jackets, clothes, boots and even a suit, have made their way into the lost and found. Two of our staff members have hung everything on hangers in the coat closet. Please check the closet and take home the things that belong to you! Small items (glasses, jewelry, keys) can be found in the office. Unclaimed items will be donated on May 8th.

SMALL GROUP MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS Co-Ed pick up Adult Basketball is on Wednesday Nights at GUMC from 8-9:30pm. All are welcome. Adult Volleyball begins May 20th at GUMC from 6:00-7:30. For more information on these and other small groups please EmailSmallGroups@GUMChurch.com SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER SPOTLIGHT The spotlight is on Ms. Amber! She teaches our Kindergartners and 1st graders. Her Birthday is in November. Her favorite thing about Sunday School teaching the kids about God and the Bible (and learning a thing or two herself). Her hobbies are reading, bike riding and attending her son's sporting events. Her favorite candy is anything chocolate. Her favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11. If you see Ms. Amber, be sure to say 'Hello'! ALTAR FLOWERS AND SPECIAL MUSIC The flowers on the altar were given to the glory of God. A special note of thanks to the Bert Miller and the Chancel Choir for the special music on Sunday. WORLD VISION GLOBAL 6K FOR WATER On Saturday, May 19, thousands of people will join the world s largest 6K walk, in an effort to bring clean water to children and their families. You can show your support by donating, or walking, running, or pushing a stroller with our team. You are helping build a world where everyone has access to clean water!
