But, what a treat..we enjoyed having so many Ladies in our membership attending this meeting. Just to update those members who were not in attendance, we announced the donations that will be sent out this month to the following Charities: Camp He Ho Ha $25,000 Children s Ability Fund $ 4,900 Zebra Child Protecttion $ 4,900 Meals on Wheels $ 4,900 If you are aware of, or serve on a Charity you feel may need some financial assistance or possibly need volunteers for a project, please let us know so we can do some research and possibly be of assistance to them. March is our Executive Nominations - we will be canvassing members interested in joining the Board of Directors for the upcoming year (April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015) Our next meeting on March 1 rst is at the Nova Hotel; hope to see you all there. Thank you to those members who stop to pick up another member for our Brunch. All Kinda Notes Although there were fewer members at the last meeting, there were some that we haven t seen at a meeting for a long time. It was nice to see Ray MacMillan and a whole table of lady members there. It was also nice to see that Wally Deptuck has recuperated and was able to attend. John Palmar was presented with his 40 Year Service Award and pin. Congratulations, John! Get Well wishes to Mary Tucker and any other members who are suffering with various ailments. Ivor MacBeath informed us that Fort Road Bingo association Executive turned down the offer to purchase the property. It was noted that in the event of a sale, any portion allocated to the Associations/Clubs must go into the Bingo Gaming Account for dispersal within a specified period and eliminate the continual income we now have. The $100 Jackpot was won by Wes Herman with his annual number #120. A reminder that all annual jackpot numbers will be due at the June meeting. Bill Pryma pocketed $50 from the 50/50. Congratulations, Wes and Bill! A new sheriff rode into town; long and lean with a mean swagger and an evil grin, he strode up to the podium. Everyone feared what was to come. Eric Carlson did a great job, collecting $11.50 from us. Provincial Conference was held on February 14 th in conjunction with the Provincial Curling hosted by Edmonton South 1017. This worked well and it was decided to go with holding the Conference in conjunction with a sporting event, whether golf or curling. Our curling team of Dwight Hunter, Wayne Gasmo, Mona McKinnon, Larry Brodeur and David Jerke (Larry and David alternated draws) put up a valiant fight but not quite enough. Winner of the closed event was Edmonton South 1017 team Jesse Johnson, Dwain May, Mark Repchinsky and Brenda Repchinsky. Winner of the open event was also an Edmonton South 1017 team Larissa Belke, Bob Sinclair, Rod Kosh and Bud Whiteman. Ironically, Doug McRae s team from St. Albert 1024 placed 2 nd in the closed event and Syd Liptak s team from St. Albert 1024 placed 2 nd in the open event. May not have been Olympic quality but some very interesting games nonthe-less. Bob Young Memorial award went to Mark Watson, Red Deer 1021. Please note that the next meeting, March 1 rst, is at a different location. We will be at the Chateau Nova Hotel, 159 Airport Road. This is just across the road, west, of the Ramada Hotel. 2 HOSPITAL SICK & VISITING Chairman: Bob McGregor 780-489-7451 Co-Chairman: Ken Oppertshauser 780-435-1903 Committee Members: Dave Pagee 780-456-1541 Steve McEachern 780-439-4094 John Tucker 780-962-1634 780-475-0451 Sylvia Herman 780-458-1675 Al Tymko 780-456-4590 The following member would appreciate a short visit: Harvey Sundahl - Shepherd s Care, 6608-28 Avenue If you are aware of any member who is ill or in the hospital, please let the Hospital Sick and Visiting Committee know.
