Seabrook Community of Prayer Austin, Texas

BUSINESS RETAIL PR AY E RETREAT CENTER R MINISTRY

Vision The Seabrook Community of Prayer envisions a location in East Austin with ministry, commercial, retreat and residential components - all flowing from a 24/7 prayer room. The effort is spearheaded by Austin House of Prayer, which has been working with churches since 2001 to build continual prayer throughout the city. We expect to serve as a resource for the wider body of Christ in the city by offering a prayer and retreat center, and by training young adults for lives of prayer-based outreach from their local churches and parishes. Our vision is unique to Austin, yet draws on and contributes to the following worldwide movements of God: United continual prayer houses of prayer, boiler rooms, healing rooms, Global Day of Prayer Reconciliation & unity Renovare, Taize, Antioch Network, International Reconciliation Coalition, Towards Jerusalem Council II New Monasticism Northumbria Community, Rutba House s 12 Marks City Transformation Sentinel Group, Business as Mission, Harvest Evangelism Interdenominational Retreats Tres Dias, Walk to Emmaus, Cursillo

Pray Imagine a place for God s presence, quiet and set apart, yet interwoven with the life of the city. The power and priority of prayer is central to life and drives all other activities. We desire to live, work and serve in a rhythm of prayer that seeks our Father s heart and invites His power into each circumstance. Together, we will create a place for God s presence, quiet and set apart, yet interwoven with the life of the city. Here, the power and priority of prayer is central to life and drives all other activities. The Seabrook Community of Prayer is literally built around the Prayer Room. Pathways lead in and out of the Prayer Room as arteries to our community spaces, places of ministry, areas of business, and residential living quarters. We invite followers of Jesus to partner with us as God establishes 24-hour prayer for the city. Individuals, small groups, retreatants, churches and special event groups are all invited to enter into the presence of God here, being filled with His power and being sent out for the glory of His name.

Serve The ministries of the Seabrook Community of Prayer collaborate to serve those in need of restoration and strengthening in the Lord. Imagine Art glorifies God in their work with artists who have disabilities. This ministry offers a working artist studio onsite in our community. Pip Start partners with God to reach at-risk youth through educational and recreational programming that includes martial arts, science and sports. Doxology is a church offering services intended to engage those seeking God who come with questions and doubts. Hope School of Worship seeks to raise up a new generation of skilled and anointed worship leaders in Austin. Connexion House engages young adults in discipleship as they live together in small households. We expect that other ministries will join or develop onsite. For example, our community plans to establish a retreat center to serve the city of Austin. We envision a fully equipped facility for individuals or groups ranging in size up to 140. Central Texas Tres Dias is considering being an anchor tenant for retreats, offering four weekend retreats every year.

Live The city of Austin will see the glory of God when His children live out New Testament commands to love one another. At the Seabrook Community of Prayer, people in different stages of life will reside on the property, living and working alongside each other for the purpose of encouraging one another, building one another up and spurring one another on to live in the light and grace of Jesus Christ. We invite followers of Jesus to live in community, some for short seasons, and others as permanent residents. Families, singles, empty nesters, students, missionaries and people with special needs will live in close proximity a diversity of needs, giftings, and life experiences. We will practice forgiveness as the details of life create many opportunities for face-to-face reconciliation. Those who currently intend to live onsite include artists, pastors, city leaders, and heads of businesses and ministries. Multiple housing options are available to people desiring and committing to our community. The style and the design of the living quarters are as diverse as the groups, offering homes, brownstones, condominium and coop housing options. All potential residents will go through a discernment process to help them hear God s call with clarity and confidence.

Work We believe the Lord establishes the work of our hands to bring about His purpose and glory. We strive to give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord because we know that labor in the Lord is not in vain. We actively resist the barrier between secular and sacred, giving God freedom to work in all areas of our life. The Seabrook Community of Prayer incorporates businesses into the community by encouraging micro-enterprise and small business ventures to establish their foundation onsite, immersed in prayer. Our vision also invites coffee and lunch venues that serve the community while welcoming our neighbors. Day & Night Waters (makers of Cielo) is the first business to be established onsite in the community. Oxygen-enriched water is bottled, labeled and delivered from our community. This business supports 24/7 prayer as it brings in the youth of our city to combine preparing the next day s deliveries with praying during our night watch.

Phase One focuses on land acquisition and development. This phase identifies and negotiates the land purchase, creates a master plan for the entire site and develops the infrastructure to facilitate the diversity of buildings and structures on the property. God is pointing us to a centrally-located property in the heart of East Austin, close to the UT campus and downtown. We desire to be God s light penetrating darkness as we declare our God of reconciliation and restoration. We believe God desires to transform this part of Austin a spiritual, economic and civic transformation for His glory. We pray for God to mobilize the resources and talents needed for this phase of the project. Specifically, we are praying for the donation of money or property for the acquisition of the land, as well as donations of services related to land survey, architecture, site planning, and initial development of infrastructure. Phase Three focuses on enfolding retreats and residences into the community. There are multiple families already intending to build homes at the Seabrook Community. This phase invites partners to join resources in developing houses, apartments, and facilities that meet the needs of residents and retreatants. We pray for God to mobilize the resources and talents needed for this phase of the project, which include grants for buildings and the donation of money, services and materials necessary for this phase.

God is calling us to establish the prayer room before all other things, since it serves as the heart of the community. We will also wrap the core businesses and ministries around the prayer room, moving them from our current location in an East Austin warehouse. We pray for God to mobilize the resources and talents needed for this phase of the project, which include services such as architectural design and engineering, cement and foundations, construction and finish-out. Donations of money, equipment and materials are also being sought to reduce the costs associated with building these facilities. Phase Four completes the vision by adding the final two components overnight facilities for retreats, and retail pads for rent facing the street. We pray for God to mobilize the resources and talents needed for this fourth phase of the project. We will be raising funds for the retreat center, and looking for investors for the retail development. As with the other phases, we need donation of construction material and services.
