Prelude GATHERING Gathering Hymn For All the Saints Hymn No. 422 (vv. 1,2,3,5,7) Greeting The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Kyrie Page 138 Hymn of Praise Page 140 Prayer of the Day (Together) Almighty God, you have knit your people together in one communion in the mystical body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in lives of faith and commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Teaching Moment Children s Sermon WORD First Lesson Revelation 7:9 17 9 After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. 10 They cried out in a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!" 11 And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 singing, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen." 13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?" 14 I said to him, "Sir, you are the one that knows." Then he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great ordeal ;they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 For this reason they are before the throne of God, and worship him day and night within his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them. 16 They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat; 17 for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." (After the reading:) The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

(2) Second Lesson 1 John 3:1 3 See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. 3 And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. (After the reading:) The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Alleluia Page 142 Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia. Alleluia. Holy Gospel Matthew 5:1 12 (Spoken after the announcement) Glory to you, O Lord. When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying: 3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. 8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Spoken after the reading) Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon Pastor David L. Echelbarger Hymn of the Day Oh, Happy Day When We Shall Stand Hymn No. 441

(3) Nicene Creed (Together) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of Intercession Remembering the saints who have gone before us and giving thanks for God's blessings, we pray for the church, all in need, and God's good creation. (After each petition:) Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer. Receive our prayers and hopes, Good Shepherd, and bring us safely into all joy and peace, through Christ our Lord. Amen. Peace The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you. Offering MEAL Offering Prayer (Together) Merciful God, as grains of wheat scattered upon the hills were gathered together to become one bread, so let your church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into your kingdom, for yours is the glory through Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen.

(4) Great Thanksgiving Page 144 Eucharistic Prayer Holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal..through him, all glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, both now and forever. Amen. Lord s Prayer Page 112 (Traditional - Right Column) Invitation The reign of God is at hand. Come, taste the joy prepared for you. All are welcome. Lamb of God Page 146 Distribution Hymns Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence Hymn No. 490 (8:30 am) Shall We Gather at the River Hymn No. 423 Blessing The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in his grace. Amen. Prayer after Communion (Together) O God, the host at every meal, at this table you spread out a feast for all peoples, the bread of life and the cup of salvation. Send us from this banquet to invite others into these good things, to let justice roll down like waters, and to care for the least of our sisters and brothers; through Jesus Christ, our Sovereign and our Savior. Amen. SENDING Benediction The blessing of almighty God, the Father of glory, + Jesus Christ our peace, and the Spirit of truth, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen.

(5) Sending Hymn Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In! 1) Oh, when the saints go marching in, oh, when the saints go marching in, when the saints go marching in. 3) Oh, when the new world is revealed, oh, when the new world is revealed, when the new world is revealed. 6) And on that hallelujah day, and on that hallelujah day, on that hallelujah day. Dismissal... Go in peace. Christ is with you. Serve the Lord. Thanks be to God. Postlude All Saints celebrates the baptized people of God, living and dead, who are the body of Christ. As November heralds the dying of the landscape in many northern regions, the readings and liturgy call us to remember all who have died in Christ and whose baptism is complete. At the Lord's table we gather with the faithful of every time and place, trusting that the promises of God will be fulfilled and that all tears will be wiped away in the new Jerusalem.
