SEVEN QUALITIES A LEADER MUST HAVE By Perry Noble
Passion This is unapologetic, unfiltered, emotional passion for the group you are leading! Remember This passion emerges from the center of who Jesus has called us to be and what he has called us to do! Be warned Passionate people can become easy targets for detractors because every knows who and what they are standing up for. http://bit.ly/excellentway
A Desire To Please God This is a key step in successfully using your life to serve, especially in ministry roles. Memorize Galatians 1:10 -- Obviously, I m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ s servant. (NLT) Choose When you have to choose between pleasing a committee and pleasing God, remember this verse and choose God.
Wisdom This is needed and we are called to be wise leaders. Remember this promise James 1:5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. (NLT) Keep learning As leaders we need to be doing as much as possible to learn, and that means going to conferences, reading books, and meeting new people and learning from them.
Courage Leaders need to please God, ask for wisdom and then have the courage to make the heard calls, even when the decision is unpopular. Remember Courage is not the absence of fear, and it is okay to feel fear during those times. Trust God Courage is knowing what God has called you to and then DOING it, not knowing the outcome but KNOWING God controls the outcome.
Humility Leaders must remember: all their good ideas come from God. We do not have the ability to lead unless God leads each of us! Memorize John 15:5 Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Give God the Glory If a leader is obsessed with God getting the glory awesome things can happen.
Honesty How leaders live DOES impact others. We need to guard our integrity and be honest to three key audiences: Ourselves How are you really doing? If you cannot keep up the pace, what changes do you need to make? Others Assess how those around you are performing. Is it time to have a kind, yet tough conversation and to trust God with the outcome? God Is your life and ministry really all about Him? If not, what do you need to consider to change that fact?
Simplicity Simplify. Stop trying to be good at everything. This idea is freeing and will give your ministry the best of your gifts Leadership will be maximized when you focus on what God has gifted you in and called you to be, rather than what your ministry expects you to be. Collaborate work with those around you to get those items off your plate that you are not good at, and find someone who is gifted in those things.
