The Manna June, 2014 From Pastor Ronnie Owen: The Purpose of Mount Carmel Baptist Church is to develop mature followers of Jesus Christ through loving, growing and serving. "Summer Slump" or "Summer Surge?" Is it too much to dream that this could be the year that we experienced a "surge" during June through August? A surge is significant because it representsaeop_k and God loves people and the church for which His Son died has been charged to reach out to people with the Good News. What would it take for such a dream to come true? Consider this: with 12 men (actually 11, as Judas was a traitor) the foundation was laid to reach the known world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe that 12 wholly-committed Mount Cannel members could be used by God to accomplish an amazing spiritual feat this Summer. Some simple steps for the surge include such things as: (1) Pray for God to give you a concern for seeing the unsaved, the un-churched, and the inactive members experience a meaningful relationship with Jesus; (2) Ask your Sunday School leaders to give you a list of persons enrolled in your class and make the ones who are absent aware (via phone call, email, text message, visit, etc.) that you missed them in Bible Study and worship and look forward to seeing them next week; (3) People are creatures of habit. If the persons who normally sit in the pew in front or behind you arc absent, make a friendly contact during the week and let them know that they were missed; (4) Pay close attention to people who are moving into your neighborhood. Stop by to say, "Hello," and invite them to attend church with you. Or, invite them to your house for cake and coffee and then invite them to church. These are not new suggestions, but they sometimes only need to he implemented for us to see their validity. They will bring results. Family vacations will he occurring at various times, but our combined intentional outreach to others will compensate for their absence. So, get "all in" and be a part of the" Summer Surge!" The dream can become a reality. Have a great June. If there are people who know you but do not know God, live in such a way that they will come to know God because they know you. From Marty Dupree Craggy Prison Ministry If you wish to share your testimony, teach/preach, sing, or attend and support the service at Craggy Prison on Friday nights, please call the church office by Wednesday noon prior to the Fridays in June. We carpool from the church at 6:oo PM and will return shortly after 8:oo PM. During the month of June we collect funds to support ministry at Craggy Prison. If you would like to give to this special offering, please mark your checks for "Craggy".

Will you join me in praying that through the witness of the church family and through the outreach of Vacation Bible School others will declare their faith in Jesus and unashamedly bear witness to their faith in Him through baptism. Persons who have received the gift of salvation and wish to be baptized are asked to speak to the pastor or call the church office (254-4688). Youth Ministry From Teddy Winter: I wanted to take a few minutes and thank you all again for your incredible support of our wonderful students. We have been so fortunate to have you all come alongside of us and support us in our fundraising efforts for our upcoming trip. I echo what the Apostle Paul said to the Philippian church in chapter 1 where he says "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now." Thank you for partnering with us as we minister to these students. Myrtle Beach Youth Trip June 16-2o Pray for our youth as they prepare for the summer youth trip.
