This care is in addition to the care the pastor gives. If you are interested in having a Stephen Minister, please let the pastor know of your request by calling the church office. Sunday Morning Schedule 8:30am New Beginning Contemporary Service 9:45am Sunday School 11:00am Traditional Worship The Lewisville United Methodist Church Preschool and School Care programs are open to church members and members of the community. They exist as an important part of our church s mission of reaching all members of the Lewisville community. Preschool Our preschool, known as Lewisville United Methodist Church Preschool Inc., is based on the recognition that early childhood educational experiences should occur in an environment of love and support. As an outreach program of the church, our preschool attempts to provide such an environment. Our program strives to be an extension of the basic framework of the Christian family and to place emphasis on the development of the whole child. Our preschool follows a child-centered approach to learning. Under the leadership of qualified teachers, each child is provided opportunities to discover and learn at his or her own pace. The preschool program offers classes for children ages 4 months to those entering kindergarten. Classes are available Monday through Friday from 9:00am until noon each day. Lunch bunch is an optional program Monday through Thursday from noon until 1:00pm. School Care The After School Program opens upon arrival of students from school and remains open until 6:00pm on scheduled school days. Our School Care staff sees to their needs. We try to make our atmosphere as home-like as possible, with an afternoon snack, outside time, movies on rainy days, and a homework room to get a head start on the afternoon s assignments.

Children s Ministry Sunday School is offered for infants through fifth graders. It includes Bible stories, art activities, music, games, and more. But there s more to our Children s Ministry than Sunday School. Vacation Bible School is a week of action-packed, mission-oriented fun with hands-on learning. Children ages 3 through fifth grade come together for four mornings and one evening in June to learn about God and have fun! Child care is provided for the adults who help with Vacation Bible School. Club 45 is a program for current 4 th and 5 th graders happening once a month for fun and fellowship. Easter Egg Hunt. Can you imagine anything more exciting than over 100 children hunting for eggs all at once? Then don t miss the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Lewisville UMC. Promotion Sunday. Each year during August, our rising 2 year olds through sixth graders are promoted to new Sunday School classes, signifying that they have matured and are ready to move on to a new level. We celebrate these achievements on Promotion Sunday. New third graders also receive a Bible as a gift from our church on Promotion Sunday. Other children s activities happen throughout the year. Ask to be added to our mailing list to find out about all of the events going on. For further information, contact our Director of Christian Education, June Hayes, at 336-945-3203. Safe Sanctuary Church. Because we value our children, we abide by the United Methodist Church s Safe Sanctuaries policy. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls Boy Scouts: Cub Scout Pack 752, for boys in grades 1-5, and Boy Scout Troop 705, for boys in grades 6-12, meet at Lewisville United Methodist Church. Girl Scouts learn about personal responsibility goal setting, and the thrill of accomplishment. American Heritage Girls serve girls from ages 5-18. We seek to build godly women of integrity through faith, service and fun. Catalyst Youth Ministry What is Catalyst? Catalyst is the vibrant youth ministry of Lewisville United Methodist Church that consists of students, in grades 6-12, and adults--all exploring together what it means to follow Jesus in today's world. Catalyst is a place where students can come and worship God freely with their peers (see below for opportunities and times). What is the Mission and Purpose of Catalyst? Catalyst youth ministry of Lewisville United Methodist Church exists to create a chain reaction of God s love and salvation to all, reaching all youth, inviting them into a family where they can belong, uniting them with others who know Jesus, creating a community that none can separate; to encourage a deeper faith and healthy lifestyles, to serve friends, enemies, neighbors, and world at all times, and to challenge them to discern their gifts and call to ministry so that they can honor God with their lives, and worship Him fully, always thirsting for more. What ministries are there to get involved in, and when do they meet? Sunday Night Fellowship: This is our biggest meeting time for the group! We meet each Sunday night from 4:30-6:30pm. We have a basic structure of how we do things: o 1 st Sunday--Worship (We meet as a large group for hang out time, games, music by our Youth Praise Band and a testimony or message led by a leader or guest speaker) o 2 nd Sunday--Study (We meet in homes throughout the school-year/at church during the summer for in-depth Bible study in a small group [4:30-5:45pm] and then we come back to the church for a Catalyst family potluck [6:30-7:15pm]. All Catalyst families are encouraged to attend). o 3 rd Sunday--Hands On (Hang out time, games, large group hands on activity that dives into the night s lesson, a small group discussion by gender and potluck meal). o 4 th Sunday--Recap/Destination Unknown (Hang out time, games, go to an unknown destination for fun or mission, or a recap activity & discussion of month s theme). Parents will know of destination prior to evening; however, it will be a surprise for the youth! Youth Praise Band: This is a group is 100% student led. If you have a heart for praise and worship and love to worship by singing or playing a musical instrument, contact Noah Williams, the Student Leader at noahloftinwilliams@gmail.com. The group meets on Sunday afternoons at 3pm. Youth Handbells: This group meets every Sunday at 4pm, right before Sunday Night Fellowship. It is a great way to learn more about music and participate in our worship service. Even if you ve never held a handbell before, or don t even know what a handbell is Catalyst youth ministry of Lewisville United Methodist Church exists to create a chain reaction of God s love and salvation to all, reaching, contact our Director of Music, Debby Trivett, and she will surely hook you up! There is always good food and great fun sharing the evening with other members of our church family, guests from our UMAR Home in Winston-Salem, and other community guests from time to time. MEET OUR PASTOR Rev. Dr. Ivan H.M. Peden His accent has a unique flair. His heart sometimes rules his head. His ideals challenge. His standards are high. He resists being average in every way. As a preacher and pastor, Ivan combines a tenacious individualism with a sensitive, caring disposition. As a naturalized American, he brings to the ministry a strong sense of social justice and reconciliation out of his native South African background. Discipleship / Small Group Ministry There are several additional small or relational groups at the church that provide the opportunity to build deeper relationships with fellow church members. These groups include: United Methodist Men - monthly breakfast meetings at 7:30 AM usually on the second Sunday of the month. Ivan received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. He is also a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, California and Rhodes University, South Africa. Ivan recently became a grandfather (known as Papi ) when Conlin Noah O Shea was born on May 13, 2015 in Minneapolis, MN to Mike and Sarah O Shea.
